OK, I'll try to explain this as best I can. In Lily's room there is a bay window and window seat that is surrounded on all four sides w/ built ins. I want to use the ceiling above the window seat to hang these really cute butterflies that I bought...kind of like a giant mobile, but over a large area and at different lengths/depths to the front of the seat. Does that make sense? So when you look at the window seat there are a bunch of butterflies flying all around.

Anyway - I can't figure out the best way to attach them from the ceiling without it looking messy when you look up from the seat. Also, my sister is saying hang them w/ pretty ribbons, mom with thin fishing line you barely see - what do you guys think? (neither have an idea of how to attach them to the ceiling though)

Her room is my project this weekend so I'm trying to get prepared. :)

Thanks!

Can you use small plant hooks that scew into the ceiling?

I like the fishing wire idea. :)

I'd use fishing wire, since you're wanting the flying effect. Small cup hooks would work---if you have white ceilings, small white hooks would be best. Otherwise, depending on how heavy they are, you could use something like thumbtacks even.

If the hooks are too visible for you, you could get a simple piece of trim (not like molding, more like a 2x4 with a ripply bottom if that makes sense) and put it between the built-ins to hide the hooks.

I too would use fish line. I would use thumb tack's assuming that the butterflies are not that heavy and the ceiling is white, that way they are hardly visible! Make sure to tie several knots around the thumb tacks BEFORE putting them up and then trim the tail end afterward with nailclippers or a small pair of scissors. You could also tack a few pieces of ribbon dangles here and there in the *window cubbie* just to add a little more!?

When do you bring your little Princess home??

Thanks everyone! I'll do the fishing line...I'll get both the tacks and the cup hooks and see which works better. The butterflys prob do not weigh more than a couple ounces, super light. I'll post a pic when I get it done. :)

I am HOPING it will be February at the very latest. When I talked to my agency today they did bring up the Avian Flu for the first time and warned me that it could delay things. :(
