My DH and I have always done the dining plan but on our next trip our 3 year old daughter will be with us and I have a few questions. Is it true that every person on a reservation must be on tHe dining plan? So my DH and I can't have the DDP without my daughter? Also, if we are going to be eating at CRT, is the dining plan not cost effective. It would be the only place that takes 2 credits that we will be eating at. I'm just thinking it may be better for us to pay OOP.

Just my humble opinion - with a three year old, the only way you're going to get your money's worth is if you do a lot of one credit character meals.

And yes, every one on the reservation has to be on the dining plan.

I would pay out of pocket for CRT. Akershus is a good 1 credit alternative for eating with princesses. My kids (who are 4) like Akershus even more than CRT because of the princess parade :)

Enjoy!

That is a good idea about CRT. We like Akershus too but I thought she would enjoy eating in the castle. Is it really that special? If we are on the DDP, can we pay OOP for CRT?

If you're doing dinner at CRT, the 2-credit value is close enough to use DDP for all three of you. If you're doing lunch or breakfast, than you and DH will do better OOP, but DD is still a good value on DDP. That just means you need to pay OOP for her at two of your other a la carte meals and if she just shares with you, then you don't have to pay anything at all.

If we get the DDP can DH and I pay OOP for CRT and DD use 2 credits?

Oh wow! That's huge, I never knew this. Even if I have entitlements available? Do I just tell the waiter?

Yes. Just tell the waiter who will be paying via DDP entitlements and who is OOP. They'll bring you a check to pay for the OOP diners and a receipt with the remaining entitlements for the DDP diners.

Pretty much everything you do at Disney is going to be special, so my feeling is that you shouldn't feel like you always have to do it all or do the best.

If you decide to do Akerhaus instead of CRT, it is going to be special, and a 3 year old won't know she missed the castle. If you return, you could do the castle instead.
