DH and I agreed not to do gifts for each other this year, except for a couple of token gifts. We are planning a Disney cruise on Spring Break, so that is our gift to each other.

I got to thinking that celebrating the 12 days of Christmas could be fun. So I'm looking for some ideas for each day. I'm planning to make cards and say on the _______ day of Christmas I give you the gift of ______. Day one would be one item, day two would be two items, etc. For example, I already have candy hugs and kisses, so that will take care of two days. He likes Chai, so I got a couple of cans. I thought of wine and beer. Any other ideas?

Remember, I'm thinking fairly inexpensive since we agreed not to give gifts. Come on creative people. Give me some ideas. Oh, and they can be suggestive, but overall PG rated. My kids will be in on the gifts I'm sure.

I'm thinking vacation themed gifts:

Disney dollars
Rolls of film
sunscreen
disposable underwater camera
aloe vera lotion
dramine or bonine :(

Thanks for the good ideas, Karen.

:bounce: Bump for the evening folk who might be able to help.

Candy hearts

A memory box

If you don't think it is too sappy for a guy, how about roses?

Guys always need underwear and socks.

lottery tickets, christmas ornaments, homemade coupons for back rubs, massages, car washes, etc.

How about a take off on this:

ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...a partridge in a pear tree. Sorry, but we can't find the partridge, so we are givng you some pears from the tree the partridge flew away from. (attach to a can of pears)

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...two turtle doves...but dont' have any...will candy turtles with a bar of Dove soap do? (attach note to a box or plate of caramel turtles w/ a boxed bar of Dove soap.)

ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...three French hens...well, we don't have any French hens, so we're giving you some chicken noodle soup, compliments of the three French hens. (attach to can of chicken noodle soup).

ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...four calling birds...we can't find those calling birds though! Here are 4 messages they left for you before they flew off! (attach to 4 messages describing what a wonderful person they are)

ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...five golden rings, but sorry, we're too poor for golden rings, but will some golden pineapple rings do? (attach to can of pineapple rings)

ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...six geese a laying, but we know you don't really want the mess of six geese all over your house, do you? How about some eggs that they left behind! (attach to a half dozen eggs)

ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...seven swans a swimming! OK, we looked for the swans, but couldn't find them, but we did find some bubble bath they used while they were swimming! (attach to bottle of bubble bath)

ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...eight maids a-milking. Here is some milk we got from the eight maids -- we think they must have been milking some brown cows! (attach to a container of chocolate milk)

ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...nine ladies dancing...Here are some canes used by the nine ladies who were out dancing all night! (attach to a nine candy canes)

ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS: your true love gave to you...ten lords-a-leapin' - here is some "Ben Gay", which is highly recommended by the ten Lords we saw out jumping around. (attach to a package of Ben Gay rubbing lotion)

ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...eleven pipers piping, so here is a pipe of your own, have fun with it, but don't "blow" the whole day! (attach to a bubble pipe and bubble solution)

ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, your true love gave to you...twelve drummers drumming, but we figured twelve drummers drumming would take up way too much room, so we drummed up some cookies for you...hope they keep this from being just another hum-"drum" day for you! (attach to a plate of cookies)

Yah, you could mix corny with practical with romantic. What a great idea!!

1 backrub

2 fleece gloves

3 hours of peace and quiet, or of any activity he enjoys, uninterupted

4 pairs of sexy boxers

5 shirts ironed

6 pack of beer

7 burning candles

8 strips of bacon

9 sweet kisses

10 box of ten donuts

11 songs on a CD

12 cookies, kisses or little notes on pretty paper saying a good thing about him

Some other ideas---hours of babysitting, car washings, tokens at an arcade, 2 movie tickets, scented/flavored oils in a pack, sampler of cologne, hours playing his favorite game....I'll try to think of some more!

These are so good! I knew I could count on you guys to help me come up with some ideas. Keep them coming. I'm going to start making the cards in a couple of days. This will be so fun.

No advice ... but you have some AWESOME ideas to work with! Let us know what you decide!

I've just about got it all worked out. Anyone else want to try this with me? :teeth:

Okay, I told my helpers I'd share what I actually did. Here are the first 5 days.

Day 1: the gift of faith (I gave him an Anglican rosary that I had made for him. He wanted one.)

Day 2: the gift of laughter (I gave him two Roy D. Mercer CDs. They are quite funny if you've never heard one!)

Day 3: the gift of warmth (I gave him two cans of chai and a Marvin the Martian mug, because they are favorites.)

Day 4: the gift of luck (I gave him four cans of blackeyed peas. We usually eat blackeyed peas for New Years for good luck and last year we had trouble finding any in the stores. Hopefully he'll share. :teeth: )

Day 5: the gift of sweetness (I gave him five candy flowers. I wasn't sure if he'd like getting real flowers or not. When I saw these I thought it was the best of both worlds.)

I'm not posting the rest since he sometimes reads the boards. I don't want to ruin the fun, but I'll catch up in a few days.

If anyone is still interested, this is the rest of the list. Thanks again for the help.

Day 6: the gift of relaxation (a six-pack of beer)

Day 7: the gift of celebration (7 crackers to pop at New Years)

Day 8: the gift of hugs (with a book on hugging and candy hugs)

Day 9: the gift of comfort (coupons for me to give him a massage)

Day 10: the gift of my admiration (a Peanuts tie with Snoopy and tons of Woodstock Scouts since he is a Scout patrol dad)

Day 11: the gift of kisses (chocolate kisses and a book about kissing)

Day 12: the gift of my love (a romantic CD with 12 tracks)
