It is my turn to host the Bunko party this month.

I have to feed 8 people (and some kids that will come over and play with my daughter).

I also need to get the Bunko prizes. We usually do themes for the prizes. Last month the hostess did bird feeders and bird themed things. She had a sandwich station set up, but I don't like the idea of meat and cheese setting out.

Any ideas?

One of our favorite Bunko nights is a baked potato bar. Our group works that everyone brings something, but this is pretty easy to do if it's all on you. We had butter, broccoli and cheese, chili, cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, green onions, ham chunks(which wasn't popular).

Our Bunko group used to be where the hostess supplied the gifts, but since attendance wasn't what it should have been, we changed to everyone brings a gift. Its worked well for us. This month the theme for our gifts was gardening. Most people brought plants- tulips, a house palm, a shamrock plant, herb garden, wildflower seeds...it was pretty well received. Another theme we've had are beverages: starbucks four pack, bottles of wine, 12 pack of Jones soda, tea bags, six pack of beer. It was fun. You could do food too. One of my months, when I was supplying the gifts, I hit a great clearance rack of sterling silver jewelry (our cost is $5 per gift, on average).

You could do a Disney theme for the gifts!:rotfl:

Maybe cooking tools or new dishtowels in different prints. Everyone could use those!

The Bunco parties that I have been to have a basic dinner like a meat, starch, veggie or salad. Simple and easy stuff. Do you have any favorites that are quick and easy to do?

We usually do appetizer stuff for our Bunco.

Dips, chips , things like that.

We don't do themed gifts, just one large door prize.

We just do cash at ours. Everyone chips in $10 - there's 12 in our group, and on a good night, I bring home about $40. Usually I break even.

I want to hear more ideas for food though. My night is coming up this summer, and I want to do something fun.

We do $5 per person and we do light snacks and desserts. My mom's does gifts around $5 and snacks. My cousin does $10 gifts and dinner. It really does vary. I get to host next month and I'm thinking fruit and desserts. Our biggest problem is getting everyone there. So far our substitutes haven't been available and we've been playing with two ghosts. Most of the group is still learning to play so it's going slow at this point.

This is a great one using McCormick's Slow Cookers BBQ Pulled Pork Seasoning
It is so good and easy, if you work, you can start it in the morning and have it ready when you get home.
Copied from- www.mccormick.com

PREP TIME: 10 minutes
YOU WILL NEED:

3 pounds boneless pork shoulder roast, well-trimmed or boneless pork loin roast

1 package McCormick® Slow Cookers BBQ Pulled Pork Seasoning

1/2 cup ketchup

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/3 cup cider vinegar

DIRECTIONS:

1. PLACE pork in slow cooker.

2. MIX Seasoning, ketchup, brown sugar and vinegar until blended. Pour over pork. Cover.

3. COOK 8 hours on LOW or 4 hours on HIGH. Remove pork from slow cooker.

4. SHRED pork, using 2 forks. Return pork to slow cooker; mix and heat with sauce before serving.

Makes 10 servings.

I usually add a little more of my favorite BBQ sauce, Bull's Eye regular sauce, just slice some large rolls, add some chips or a salad and you are set.

Another favorite of my pokeno group is- French Dip Sandwiches

Shredded roast beef from the deli
Au Jus mix from seasonings aisle (I find store brand better tahn McCormick and mix a little less water than it calls for)

Just heat above on the stovetop

Add Provolone Cheese and Mayo to a good crusty rolls/Poboy bread and have small bowls for each person to have their own "dip"- Yummy!!!!

Both of these are easy weeknight meals for my family as well. And leftovers reheat great.

As for prizes, we do CASH ;) but I suggest maybe a spring/summer beachy theme, how about beach towels, cool sunglasses, picnic basket, garden decorations etc. Have Fun!!! Let us know what you decide.

We have the hostess supply beverages:rolleyes1 and everyone else brings a appetizers (gota love trader joe's -best frozen appetizers). We do $5 dollars each. Most wins gets cash, Biggest loser and most Buncos.

on ours everyone gave me 5.00 for prizes and hostess does dinner. I really like the garden theme for prizes. I am going to do some shopping this weekend and I will let you know what I get! Thanks for all the ideas. I am still undecided about food. Kat
