Need some advice!

Here is our situation, the day we go to MGM Fantasmic is at 7:00 and we have ADR's for Marrakesh in Epcot at 8:30. The plan is to see Fantasmic at 7:00 then when the show is over, which I believe is 25 mins long, we will exit the park and take the boat from MGM to Epcot and go to Marrakesh for dinner. How does that plan sound? How long will it take to get out of Fantasmic and exit the park, will we ge held up? How long will it take to get to Morrocco for dinner, will we miss our ADR's? It will be on Jan. 11, 2006 if that info matters.

The boats are verrry slow. If you're in decent shape I'd recommend walking. My sister and I walked from MGM to Epcot, stopped at the Boardwalk for an ice cream cone, and still beat the boat that we would have taken.

The boat makes 3 stops on the way (one at the Swan/Dolphin, one at the Yacht Club, and one at the Boardwalk) before stopping at the end. I'd say it's a good half hour of boat travel. Plus there will be lines for the boat after Fantasmic, so you may not make the first one.

If walking is not an option you could take the bus to Epcot, but then you'll be stuck walking all the way to the back of World Showcase.

so how long does the walk take? My wife and I are both healthy and able to walk quickly. Do you think we will be be able to get out of MGM quickly?

We have done this many times to get to the 9pm IllumiNations after the 7pm Fantasmic!
But we have until 8:55 to get there. That extra 25 minutes is valuable.

You have a much shorter time to make the trip.

If you CAN get on the boat (Friendship) within reason (there are usually a LOT of folks trying) it will take almost exactly 30 minutes to get you to Epcot's International Gateway. So if the line to the boat is LONG... just assess how much time you have before the meal ressie.
(Remember, It will still take you at least 10 minutes to go through Gate Security, enter Epcot, and walk to your restaurant after you reach the International Gateway.

You do not want to take the bus. It would be a long wait for the bus and a very long walk from the front gate of Epcot to deep into World Showcase.

So, as the first responder said, just walk from the Studios to Epcot. It will take about 20 minutes. (It is not much farther than the Epcot front gate-to-Marrakesh would be anyway.)

We will walk, but is the path to Epcot clearly marked?

When you exit the Studios just keep walking with the water on your left and the parking lot on your right. This path continues away from the parking area but the water will always be on your left. Keep going and after the underapss you will be at the edge of the Boardwalk resort with the Swan and Dolphin across the water on the left. You have two options when you reach the bridge that connects the boardwalk side with the Swan/Dolphin and Yacht Club side. You can continue on the same path you started which will take you past the Boardwalk main entrance and the shops/restaurants along the way. When you reach the ESPN Club you will come to another bridge. After this bridge turn right and you will be at the International Gateway of Epcot.
Your other option is to cross the first bridge over to the Yacht Club side. This path continues straight past the Beach Club and then straight to the IG of Epcot. Very little difference that I know of between the two as far as distance and timing.
