I'm still working on my first scrapbook of my summer vacation (which was 3 weeks starting in San Francisco and ending in the Grand Canyon) I just finished Disneyland and will be starting San Diego, which I have a few ideas for. But thinking ahead to the Grand Canyon, I don't know what color papers etc. to use. Has anyone done a Grand Canyon layout or have any ideas what would work well?? I have gotten so much useful info on this site that has helped me with this new venture. I even did my first pping! of a skateboarder to go with DL's X games Xperience. I would appreciate any advice.

I always choose colors that compliment my pictures. Go to TwoPeasInABucket.com and check out their "peanut gallery"... you can do a search for "grand canyon" and come up with 3 pages of layouts!

Thank you so much ToDisney and nicki dahling, I got alot of ideas from those pages. One of my concerns was if I used similar background colors everything would look too reddish or orangy, but the layouts I saw worked them in well. THanks again!!:D

Depending on the day, time and weather the canyon can have so many wonderful colors! all different! But if I was scrapping our trip (we went many moons ago before scrapping and I won't go back beyond my kids to scrap)
I would go for the really rich colors, reds, purples, even teal. I don't think I would use much orange or yellow. I think I would keep the back ground paper very plain, and probably stay in the the brown/tan family. and then mat even double or tripple mat.
Have fun with the colors!

Thanks Spinning, I think you're right about the oranges and yellows, and I did see a layout on two peas that used teal and it looked nice, I don't think I would have come up with that on my own. I've been trying to branch out with more color on my layouts, the last disneyland page iI used bright bright colors, my kids loved it and it does look good, but I was nervous using them at first.

I used greens and browns and it complimented the natural feel of the layout and really made the reds and oranges "pop." I also used a lot of panoramic pictures as borders. Good luck!
