I just received a bcv dvc deed w/200 points as a gift! The points rollover March 2003. My dilemma is -

I want to book a vacation at the bwv grand villas in October 2003 and need at least 350 pts to do this. Since I this is not my home resort, I understand I must wait until 7 mos out to do this.

Since I do not yet have any information on how this point system works, I need to know if I have the option of booking bcv 11 mos out and then transferring this over to bwv 7 mos out without losing anything?

Do I even have enough points 11 mos out to do this (would be Dec. 2002?

or should I consider trading with someone who has bwv as their vacation home and do I even have enough points to do this?

The points for a GV at BWV or BCV in 12/1 to 12/14 are 74 points per night Sun-Thurs. 94 for Fri and Sat.
Assuming you will have enough points for your stay you would need to book the BCV at 11 months and at 7 months try to change it to BWV. This would be no problem if available.
Other options would be a 2 BR and a Studio standard view at BWV or the same at OKW. First of December is a popular time with DVC members due to lower points and Christmas season.

First of all, congratulations and welcome home! What a nice gift!

If your use year is March, the first thing you need to do is bank your 2002 points. If you do not bank them, they can only be used for a stay between 3/1/2002 and 2/28/2003. If you bank them, you can use them for a stay between 3/1/2003 and 2/29/2004 (Your 2003 use year). If you want to bank all 200 points, you must do it before the end of August!

You can book at BCV (your home resort) 11 months ahead of your departure date. For an October 2003 stay, you can book in November 2002.

A week in a Grand Villa in October is 587 points. (Weekdays (su-Th) are 79 points each and weekends (F & S) are 96. If you need to, you can borrow points from your 2004 use year to make the ressie. Weekend nights are easier to book than weekdays as many members do not want to pay the higher weekend points.

Since BCV does not have Grand Villas, you can either:

*make a back up ressie at BCV at the 11 month mark (maybe a 2 bedroom and a studio or 1 bedroom) and then at the 7 month mark call to see if the GV is available at BWV. If so, you cancel the BCV ressie and make the BWV ressie. You can use the waitlist feature if all the days you want are not available at BWV when you call to reserve. You won't loose anything by doing this - there may be a difference in the points cost between the backup and the GV, though.

*Find a BWV owner who is willing to "trade" points with you so that you have the 11 month advantage at BWV. Usually, this means the BWV makes your ressie and then you make a comparable ressie at BCV for the BWV owner. Since you are looking at so many points, this may be difficult to arrange. My advice is to start looking for someone now if that's the route you choose to take.

HTH. Good luck and again, WELCOME HOME!

thanks so much for all your help!!!!!!! I will try to trade in order to better my chances. It is really good to know what dates I need to comply with.

I am so thankful for this gift and cannot wait to spend my XXXX halloween birthday in disney!

What a blast!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

hi, In your notice you did not say how many people were going? How many adults, how many children? We went in August 2001 and stayed at bwv. It was not our home resort. There were 10, 8 adults 2 children. Rather thn use up alot of points we had separate rooms. I got 2 studios and a 1 bedroom. It worked out great! I made all the reservations at the same time and requested that we be as close as possible. The one bedroom and a studio were next to each other and we had the adjoining door. The second studio was 2 doors down. Our one bedroom was the meeting/ hanging out eating place. The family could hang out or get some time to themselves. And the 2 grandsons loved being able to sleep in different places. It was easier to get them to bed if the rooms were not so busy. What ever you decide have a great ime!!! Patsy:

As of this date there are 8 confirmed - all adults except one. The main reason I am favoring the grand villa is for the extra room to congregate and take in the view while celebrating! I like your idea though. Thanks

Hi again. With adults going the separate studios ight be the way to go. You do use less points. After we go home I found out some of the family was concern about being together for 8 days. It was the first time we had all been on vacation together. They all enjoyed having their on studios. None of our stuff got mixed up together. And the one bedroon was big enough to hang out/ meet/ eat meals at. It alos has the washer and dryer if you need it. Also if you are planning this and you are in charge,, do plan it. With 8 people you can waste alot of time deciding what to do that day. My family was easy. None of them had been to dw before. I had all 8 days planned. Even if there was nothing planned, it was in there. One month before we left I mailed them a copy. THEY LOVED IT!! If you play golf you can make reservations for that also. They will even send a car for you if you want. Well have fun!! hope I did not bore you with this. I just want everyone to have a great tiem when they go. Patsy
