Need some advice (newbie)

Hey! I'm new to the group and to Disney! This will be my family's first trip and I need some advice. We have reservations at PO-Riverside May 2-10 but We were thinking of staying a extra day. We were hoping to just resort hop and stay at whichever resort was our favorite. My question for you is ..is this a good idea? Will all the resorts be booked up by then?

WELCOME!! I'm sure you'll find these boards very informative! I would spend some time here on the Dis, checking out the different threads for resorts. Browse Disney's site for the resorts that are most appealing to you. TBH, I have no idea if they'll even let you book last minute like that??

Welcome! Take a look around and check out some of the resort threads. A lot of them have pictures. You can also find a lot of information on Allears.net as they have resort fact sheets and pictures and slide shows, they also break down the differences between the deluxes, moderates, and values. I think you will fall in love with POR. It is one of our favorites, even among some of the deluxes. Check out Portorleans.org for resort specific information and lists of activities an amenities. If you want to see the resorts before committing I would go on the first couple of days and book ASAP. Resorts can often fill up quickly. You will be less likely to get a discount at the last minute as well. WDW is a BIG place and resort hopping can take all day, there are a lot of resorts and they are spread out over the property. Have fun on your first trip!

POR is my favorite resort. There is so much to do and it is such a peaceful atmosphere As far as trying to book yourself a one night stay at another resort, ask your self, would you ever go to any resort anywhere, without prior reservations ? I would go on the resorts thread and the Disney website and gather as much info as possible. Even look on You Tube, as many people video the resorts. Then you can call and book ahead of time. I hope you enjoy your trip and your time on the Dis !! This is a great way to gather info Andalusia friends !!!

When we stayed at Pop for 8 nights, we decided to stay an extra night when we were 1/2 way through our stay. We were able to keep the same room. After we checked out, we went to the MK & I lost DH's wallet!!!! At about 8pm, we decided to stay another night at Pop and check lost & found the next morning. We were in a different section but they definitely had availability. Thankfully, his wallet was at lost and found!!! A very nice WDW guest turned it in.
