My family of 5 and our friends family of 5 went to WDW in Nov/Dec 2014. It was a 5 night 6 day stay.

We did the following schedule.

Day 1 - Arrival Day. Evening at Epcot
Day 2 - HS Full Day
Day 3 - MK Full Day
Day 4 - EP Full Day
Day 5 - MK Full Day
Day 6 - DD Half Day Drove Home

Some 2014 Observations
  • We opt'd out of AK completely because of low interest (I know AK is not a zoo but children and other family had a "Its a Zoo" mentality) and construction scared us a way.
  • We both greatly underestimated Hollywood Studios and enjoyed that park a lot.

2017 Trip

Fast forward to now and we are starting to dab our toes in to Dec 2017 planning. This trip will be 7 Day 6 Night. I am of the opinion about 2017.

  • HS is now a 1/2 day park to me. There are a few attractions my family would like to to see. Fantasmic, ToT, Toy Story the top 3. If the Star Wars fireworks show is still going I would like to see that and Launch Bay. Our friends think they need to stay an entire day there.
  • I think we need 2 full days at AK. Considering we did nothing there last time and the possibility of Pandora being open by Dec 2017. I want to make sure it is fully explored.
So My Schedule for 2017 looks like this.

Day 1 - Arrival Day. Evening at HS
Day 2 - AK Full Day
Day 3 - MK Full Day
Day 4 - EP Full Day
Day 5 - MK Full Day
Day 6 - AK Full Day
Day 7 - DS Half Day Leave for Home.

Opinions?

1. Is HS a 1/2 day park?
2. Is AK a 2 day park?
3. Would 2 you rather have 2 days in EP or 2 days in AK. (We loved Epcot too)

To be honest, I think it's too soon to pick park days at 17 months out particularly with so much construction. Who knows what the parks will really look like a year from this fall. DHS is a shell of what it was when you were there, and the demolition seems behind much less the build. AK evening has mixed reviews and there's no guarantee on Pandora being done on time.

THe good news is that you'll have a great time when you do get to go. Have fun.

Currently, DHS and AK time can highly depend on how many of the shows you want to see.

A lot of regular guests do not frequently repeat shows, so those guests often call those parks half day parks.
