We have 2 little ones that go to bed early, and we'd like to be able to stay up later and watch TV rather than going to bed at THEIR bedtime!

Can anyone suggest a resort that has a separate bedroom area? In non-Disney times, we often stay in a Residence Inn b/c they have separate bedrooms.

Suggestions please!!

Thanks!

We need a seperate sleeping area for the same reason! We LOVE the All Star Music's Family Suites. Cheap enough, nice enough. If we didn't just buy DVC, we'd stay there all the time.

Have you tried Ft. Wilderness Cabins. They have a bedroom with a TV, bunk beds and a full size bed. Then a full sized kitchen, eating area and murphy bed in living room w/TV. Very peaceful area. Different from your typical resort.

We rented a one-bedroom at BWV in Jan. We have three young kids and actually gave them the master bedroom (king bed) and we slept on the sofa bed. It was great to have the DVD player, kitchen, etc. and stay up as late as we wanted to without disturbing the kiddos. (I rented points from a DVC owner, see the DVC rent/trade board).

what worked for us in october was to put our little ones to bed and then hang out on the balcony (yc) for a while until they were asleep. then, if we wanted, we could go in and put the tv on...not too loudly, but could watch no problems. not as good as a separate sleeping area, but an option, and it worked well for us.

Do you happen to have any pics of the family suites? I just looked on the Disney website and I'm not finding any info about family suites at ASM. Any suggestions?? Sounds like it could be perfect for us, but I want to see more info and pics!

thanks!

I have a few pics of the resort, but only one of our room. And all that shows is a Mickey head made of towels that Mousekeeping left on our bed. I think Allears.net has some pics of the family suites. I found some somewhere else too...I'll try to find them and post a link here.

You'll LOVE the family suites. They aren't super dee dooper fancy, but they are clean and new. I'd compare them to a Hampton Inn or Residence Inn. Of course, everyone will view them differently. How I compare them may vary from how others compare them!!

But really, they met our needs just fine. When we used them last year, we took my grandma with us, and we had plenty of room for her, my husband, myself, and our two kids. (I was still pregnant with #3). We did things a little different....my daughter was just a few months shy of two, so we had her in a pack 'n' play in the kitchenette, my son went to sleep in the "master" bedroom with the queen bed. Then, my dh and grandma and I would watch TV in the living area. When we were ready to go to bed, we'd pull out couch which is where grandma slept, and son would sleep on pull out chair. DH and I slept in the queen bed room, and dd stayed in pack 'n' play in kitchenette. I don't know how old your kids are, so that pack and play idea might not work, but you could modify accoridingly. We've even been known to have ds "camp" in the bathtub!! lol!

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) last Sept. (2006)

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

Are the family suites in a sperate section or is possible to book a suite with a connecting room? There are 7 of us and the suite only holds 6.

Hmmmm....not sure. Heck of a lot of help I am, right?!? :) From what I remember when we went last year, the Family Suites were only in the Jazz building but that might have changed. I haven't done any research on the suites in about 9 months. They make the suites by taking two regular hotel rooms and redoing them, so I'm not sure if they'd have connecting family suites based on how hotel rooms are laid out. Maybe they'd have a family suite that connected to a regular room, or at least one right next to a regular room.

What are the ages of your travel party? The family suites can accomadate a baby in a pack and play. I'm not sure if that's included in the maximum occupancy or not. Let's see....two in the sleeper sofa, one in the ottoman, one in the sleeper chair, two in the queen bed is 6. A baby in a pack and play (I think disney defines baby as a kid under three) would mean the room would accomadate seven, I would think. You'd have to verify that with someone though. It makes sense in my head, but my head is a little messed up! :rotfl2: So double check!

OK, here's an update:

We are looking at mid-Jan 2008 for our trip. I think the ASMU suites will be THE way to go for us. The other suite options are much more expensive, and for the little time we will actually spend in the room, I am not willing to pay all that. :-)

Any "preferred" section of the 2 suite bldgs at ASMU that I should request? The quieter the better for us.

Does anyone happen to know if the resort pools are heated? Being Florida, I'm guessing not, but just thought I'd check.

I read that the suites are pretty much never discounted. Does that mean that if an all-inclusive code comes out in early November like it did last year that I would not be eligible? Just want to get the most savings that I possibly can.

Thanks for the help, everyone!!

The pools are heated. As for discounts you can't get much on suites. You can however get connecting rooms at Pop or AS and discounts would apply there. We did that last year at Pop and it was great. Our kids go to bed at 7pm and we don't!

I have the same issue--like to get the kids to bed early and in their own room. Last time we stayed in a suite at the GF. Of course, it was fantastic. It was also $1,500/night. :scared1: This time, we booked a family suite at SOG, which is a budget friendly $250/night.

And you are right, suites are NEVER discounted. Another good option is to rent DVC points and book a villa.....anyone know how much that costs??

We rented points for our upcoming trip in January. We are staying in a 2-bedroom suite at Boardwalk Villas for 6 nights. We paid $11/point for 210 points so about $2300. It is a little more expensive than the ASMu suites but is also nicer and has much more space. We are super excited!!

We have done two rooms at ASmusic & ASmovies before. Works well for our three little guys.

Hey! You're in Apex? We just moved to Raleigh! Hi Neighbor!
