I have booked Rose and Crown for one of my CP packages and I am having doubts about doing it,I am planning on ordering the cheese plate, steak and prawns and whiskey cake but then I thought maybe I should try and get a ressie for Le cellier for a 2nd package(already have one booked) put what if I don't like it then I have 2 ressies for it,so I would appreciate any reviews good or bad on Rose and Crown.
Thanks!!! :)

I wasn't that impressed with it, but I am from the UK and to me it was just common pub grub. However, as I am not a great fan of pub grub, maybe thats was why i did not like it.

It does get a lot of good reviews and a lot of people like it. The cheese plate does look good, the fish and chips also looked good, but the steak was prety poor.

The last time we went it was great. Roast beef and yorkshire pudding like my gram makes. Yummy!! Good dessert too!

I had the cheese plate last time I was there and I really liked it. I could only have some of the cheese though (being PG and all). I ordered the Guiness stew which was OK, I've had better. It seemed like it had been cooked down just a bit too much, from stew to paste. I also had the caramel trifle (I think that's what it's called) and it was not quite what I expected!

If something on the menu looks good to you then go for it! I'm a picky eater so there was little for me choose. It's not somewhere I'll go back to for that reason.

We had almost the same thing on Wednesday. DH had the cheese and fruit plate and I had the prawn appetizer. The fruit plate consisted of grapes, candied walnuts, chedder cheese, camenbert cheese with cherry sauce, stilton cheese, and I think another type. It was getting dark by then and we were on the patio. We also had the steak and prawns. We asked to have the sauces placed on the side since we were not quite sure about the horseradish sauce and prawn sauce. Both steaks were done perfectly. I asked for medium rare and DH ordered medium. Vegetables were fresh green beans.
We both had the apple crumble with ice cream while we watched Illuminations. It was a LOT of food - but quite good. The prawn appetizer was a little different. Their cocktail sauce was mayo based, not tomato based. It was more like a shrimp salad. Rolls served with appetizers were cheese crusted. Quite yummy.

Thanks for the reply,I think if I could get a ressie for Illuminations I would really be happy but I have a 5:50 ressie so that is why I am debating it.
Thanks!!! :)

We've eaten there three times and none of us have liked it very much any of the times (you'd think we'd stop going! :teeth: ) It's ok, the view and atmosphere are great (especially on the patio, although waiting for a patio table took us forever and when we did get one it was about 7:15 and everyone around us were done eating and just hanging out, we overheard two of the tables saying they were waiting for Illuminations. I can't imagine waiting two hours after I ate for some fireworks that you can get a great view from almost anywhere. IMO) but the food is just bland to me. I guess we keep giving it a second and third chance but we swore last time was our last!

Last time I ate there (January 2005) I had the roasted chicken and boy was that delicious. My DH had the bangers and mash and loved it.

It's definitely one of our favorite restaurants at WDW. We've never had a bad meal or bad service. I usually get the steak & prawns and it is wonderful, and DH loved the cheese plate. I think you should stick with it!

We ate there last week (my reviews are coming). Loved the atmosphere, the wait staff and the food. Had the prawns and steak and the bangers and mash. Both great and what a view of Illuminations!

We ate there Dec 2004 and it was delicious. We had the marinated mushrooms and lamb barley soup for appetizers. Both delicious!! There were 4 of us and 2 of us had Sheppards Pie (or cottage pie as it says on the menu), one had Bangers and Mash, and one of us had the steak and prawns. Everything was delicious! and very nice sized portions. You can see the menu here: http://allearsnet.com/menu/menu_rc.htm
The menu is limited so I would check it out before you go ;)

Last trip we ate there, it was good. The food was pretty simple( nothing fancy- my boys had no problem picking a meal). Our next trip I don't think we will be eatting there, nothing personal, just want to try some other place. If you get seated outside , it will be a great view for the fireworks. Enjoy ! :wizard:

Girlfriend and I just went there this past Tuesday. I had the cheese sampler, and she got the shrimp cocktail appetizer, thinking it was going to be cold jumbo shrimp with the red cocktail sauce. She didn't like it, and gave it to me. I agree with zak'smom, in that it was more like a salad. As far as the fruit and cheese plate, whatever the cheese is that had the cherry sauce, I didn't like it at all. I was able to eat most of everything else. Steak and prawns was decent. It wasn't anything spectacular, but I didn't have any complaints about it. The prawns were pretty tasty, but for some reason I expected to get more than 3. We had to wait quite awhile for our entree's to come, as well as our dessert, but I believe it was because the waitress was just trying to extend our meal so that we'd have dessert during Illuminations. My girlfriend and I used our 2 dessert choices to share the dessert sampler. All 3 choices were good, but we liked the Guiness cake the least, mostly because it wasn't as moist as we had hoped. After reading some reviews on here, I really wanted to try out the Bangers n Mash, but I was afraid I wouldn't like it, not eat it, and be hungry the rest of the night.

i was there in may loved the bangers and mash was sooooo good lol i want to go back to get more now. my dad raved about the cottage pie said it was one of the best he had ever tasted

I just got back yesterday and we ate at the rose and crown on sunday night. we had 7:50 ressie and I wish I was able to make them earlier. The weather was questionable so they didn't seat anyone on the patio but did on the deck. because of the limited seating outdoors and no one seemed to be leaving the deck area we had to sit inside. I knew I was taking a chance on the seating for the fireworks but all in all the food was okay. I did like that they had hard cider for some reason here in NY it's hard to find. We used the free dining plan and had no problems at all with it.

we ate dinner there last wed. night. we had 730 reservations and did not get seated until 9 oclock. we placed our order then when outside to view the show, it is by far the best view. the food was okay, i had some type of chicken pasty. the waiter was excellent, he kept apologizing for our wait, which was not his fault, but i think the host, hostess, needed a little help that night.
