Hello all! Time to get personal... here's the scoop i just booked rooms for this december - week of 13th. While i'm there i was planning to propose to my girlfriend (disney is a shared obsession) (but she doesn't get on the boards so we can speak freely) Anyway - not quite sure how to do it. What I am working on is a romantic evening type of thing. Kind of lay around the pool that day then get all dressed up and do something fancy. So what should we do (fireworks/illuminations cruise?) dinner at V&A or Cal. Grill. Or really anything....... Also not staying at monorail resort - was wondering who has experience with Limo companies down there i only wanted picked up at resort and dropped off not a whole night thing. Anyway any ideas are VERY welcome and ladies feel free to let me know what your dream Disney proposal would be....PS - i was planning to slip her the old ring at the end of the night maybe on one of the beaches at night at the POLY or one of the other monorail resorts. Any ideas on how we can get out there easily and what you think of that idea. - ok fire away.

Dinner at California Grill. Propose while watching Wishes from the Poly beach. Maybe have some Champagne and Champagne Glasses for toast after you propose.

Good Luck! :)

nothing to add but congratulations!

I recommend a wishes cruise. Being alone on the water watching the fireworks makes the moment even more special. My husband proposed on a NYE fireworks cruise at MK and we are going back to WDW next week to celebrate our 1-year anniversary!

Best Wishes!
Melissa

yeah about those wishes cruises - are you alone on the boat - anyone that's been on one - what are they like - how much do they cost????

Well my dream proposal would be something arranged by Disney itself! CAll 1 407-824-5130 to arrange an engagement package. Packages start at $295. They will even arrnage for a special setup somewhere in the park... like the rose garden by the castle during foreworks etc. I would def give them a call and see what they can dream up for you if you have the money. ALso another expensive suggestion would be to rent the Grand One Yacht for an hour or 2 (approx. 357.00 an hour !!!) and also the GF will do private dining on the boat while fireworks are going on. You can also have a Cindy's slipper dessert through GF private dining on the boat or any other special desserts like the cakes , bride and groom strawberries etc. If your vacation is more than 180 days away you can try to book the chef's table at V&A's and its is about 180 per person and you will have a private table by the kitchen and a special meal prepared for you. Very romatic and then maybe a walk on the beach. Or..... lol ........ There are also sleigh rides in dec at the WL and that could be very romantic to cover up in a blanket and hear the bells from the horses .... after you have a had a nice dinner like from the CG and you can take the boat from there to WL. Any o ther questions just ask away.

Wow, I think it's fantastic that you want to go all out romance-wise for your proposal. It will definitely be something she never forgets!!! Congrats in advance!

Do you do romantic stuff all the time? I'm asking beacuse if you want to keep it a surprise till the last second, she's going to know something is up if you take her on a cruise just the two of you and that's out of the norm.

How about a proposal in front of the castle during Wishes? She really won't be expecting it and you can't get much more romantic than that!

Just a quick aside, I got engaged at Disney World and my husband was going to do it infront of the castle all romantic but lost his nerve. He wound up carrying the ring around all day long and when we got back to the hotel at the end of the night I went to bed and he put on the Yankee game. He told me he needed to talk to me and so I rolled over to look at him. He's holding the ring and he couldn't say a word. The only thing he got out was "well?"
Not, "Will you marry me?" just "well?"
Not his original plan but we've been married almost 5 years so I'd say it worked!

i think you received some great suggestions... i think it depends on what would wow your future wife... i love the idea of the horse drawn carriage ride, maybe on the beach at fwc as wishes is taking place...

but no matter what you decide (and disney will definitely help guide you if you opt for an engagement package) be sure to have champagne waiting back at the room, perhaps w/a fancy dessert or tuxedo strawberries or whatever else is special to your future bride...

BEST WISHES!

I haven't reead all of these yet, but I think that an original idea might be to have dinner at one of the three monorail resorts. Don't ask during dinner, then she'll be thrown off. I think you should then grab a monorail attendant and tell them what's going on, hop on the monorail as the "co-pilots" with the driver and ask her there as you are going by Magic Kingdom--perhaps even try to go by as the fireworks are going off.
I have a few other suggestions too, but they involve different parks...but have fun and congrats!

Excelent suggestion Jenn Lynn in fact i no some one who did that exactly how u said it, and the lady said yes. I have faith in u cvet1 make the califonia grill and beach proposal 2 - 0.

Make reservatons at CG.

Try to time it so you finish dinner before fireworks begin.
Go out on the observation deck that isn't as crowded. There are two........go past the elevators toward the back to the restrooms. Go out the doors to that obseration deck. Watch the fireworks, then when everyone has gone back inside, pop the question during a very private moment.

Then go back to your room, and have chocolate covered strawberries decked out in tuxedo icing ready, along with champagne, and a congratulatory note and picture from Mickey and Minnie.

Trust me. Disney can arrange it.
And trust me.
Your girlfriend will love it.

I don't know what my dream proposal would be cvets....but I can tell you about my friend's proposal.

They went to Narcoosee's (spelling?) at the GF for dinner. He had told the waiter that he was going to propose outside after dinner and then bring her back inside for champagne. After dinner came, he asked her to go outside and she couldn't believe that he wasn't paying the bill before they went outside. So they had a little spat. She finally agreed to go outside with him on the boat landing but couldn't understand why he couldn't just pay the bill and they could leave. When they got to the boat dock, the boat from the MK was letting people out and herds of people were bombarding them. She wanted to leave and he wanted to stay (another spat). Finally he just blurted it out. Suddenly she got it.....It was magical anyway and of course she said yes and they returned to pay the bill and have champagne.

I would just suggest whatever you do it be magical for both of you!! If you want people around, it can be wonderful with hoots and hollers and people congratulating. If you want it private, it can be that way too. That's the beauty about disney you can have pretty much whatever you want.

Oh - I saw someone get engaged behind the castle on the walkway from Fantasyland to Liberty Square (the one in front of tinkerbell's treasures) right after wishes before the spectro parade the last time. There was no one around except for myself who was passing through and them. That is a far less known walkway. They were right under the beautifully lit castle. And it was romantic and private.

Good Luck and Congrats!!!!!!

OK - it's me i'm back - thanks so much for your advice.

So here's what I've come up with:

Either:

Dinner at the California Grill followed by Carriage Ride through Fort Wilderness.

OR

Dinner at Artists Point then Sliegh Ride through the Wildreness Lodge area.

Two questions for the experts -

1) has anyone ever been on the Wilderness Lodge Sliegh Rides - are they very similar to the carriage rides at Fort Wilderness or is the compartment you ride in very different...my girlfirend is into the Cinderella style thing and i was wondering if the sliegh rides would be fittingly romantic.

2) Also should i rent a car - usually we just go down and take the Disney Transportation everywhere - but i was thinking because we will need to go to various resorts it would be nice to rent a car - i could get a town car or limo for a one way trip but four hours may be a little steep price wise (even for a town car) - anyway would driving the car myself kinda kill the mood or a town car or would that (if it was one way) be a big pain trying to get back at night - anyway what do you guys think
