We are thinking about eating here on our next trip home in April. There will be 4 of us (DW, DD9 & DS6).

Any reviews would be helpful.

Thanks,

very enjoyable and very good! we have eaten there about 4 times and everytime it was excellent! the children will definitely have a good time w/the "entertainment." if they are not familiar using chopsticks, the waitperson will put rubber bands around the chopsticks so they can use them. be sure to make a PS as we have had to wait although we had PS arrangements.

I've dined here several times and it has always been good. The atmosphere is especially fun when you get a showy chef. The food is really good, and every kid I've seen there has liked the food as well.
There are only a few advisories I would make:
1) Don't dine here if you are uncomfortable being seated with strangers.
2) If your kids are super super duper picky, don't eat here OR have them eat before or after. They don't offer the chicken fingers/mac-n-cheese standard fare. It's rice, choice of meat, and vegetables.
3) I've read on these boards that they've reduced the number of courses under new management. I would suggest lunch over dinner for the best value.
If you do choose to eat here, make a PS for sure.

We've eaten there every trip for several years. It is two of my three children's favorite Disney restaurant. We find the food to be of a very high quality (better than our local place). Chefs are uneven -- some are very good and others almost dull. Lunch prices are much less than dinner, and the servings are big. AT least I hope that is still the case -- it apparently has recently undergone a management change and a salad is no longer included.

DD and I had lunch there 2nd week of Jan. Disappointed in this one. Food was OK, not great. Chef not especially entertaining. Service, however, was good. I agree with another reply. I think a lot of the experience involves your chef. Portions were on the small side and it was extremely expensive, all things considered. I didn't mind the price of our dinners at the Calif Grill, but this just didn't seem right. Well, that is mho, and based on only one experience. It may be just the right place for your group....

We ate here this past Sept. and really enjoyed it. It was our first time to eat at this Epcot restaurant and we are already planning on eating here again in the future.

We ate here on both our trips last year and loved it! The kids like the "entertainment" and chopsticks!! We did lunch both times. My dd8 doesn't eat meat, so she ate white rice only. They were very accomodating.

Our family of 6 loves this restaurant. The food is great and the entertainment is as well. It's so nice to see them prepare everything fresh right in front of you and they are very fast at filling up your water, soda or green tea.

I will be one of the few negative reviews.

We ate there in April. Our chef did not do any real "act" or interact with the table. The portions were generous but I felt the food had way too much soy sauce added. Also, he did a poor job a cooking the steak to order. We were disappointed that steamed rice was the only option (no fried rice on the grill for an upcharge). I would be very disappointed if the salad is now an extra charge item.

We eat at a local Japaneese steak house about twice per month and enjoy it. We do not mind the seating with other families - this can be fun. It costs considerably less at home (Northern Virginia) and the food/dining experience is far superior.

The only way I can suggest eating here is if you don't have acces to a Japaneese Steakhouse near your home.

Teppanyaki is one of our "must do" restaurants on every trip. The kids love it, and so do the adults.

Thanks to everyone!!! Great reports.

My DW & I have chosen to have lunch at the restaurant.

Teppanyaki= Two thumbs up!
We (4 adults) went there 2 years ago for lunch and had a great dining experience. The food was excellent, big portions, place was clean and the chef entertaining.

What exactly is the rice like? I've been to another Japanese steak house, and they took white, steamed rice and heated it on the cooking surface, adding soy sauce for flavor. I really liked it, but I do not like plain white steamed rice. Is that whay they have at Disney?

Thanks,

The rice serves is traditional steamed white rice, in a bowl, not cooked on the grill table. I love to add some of the dipping sauce they provide, it seasons it to a flavor I like. DDs like to do that and then put some meat and veggies on top for thier dinner. One thing I didn't see mentioned. I usually enjoy chicken cooked this way at places at home, but both times I tried it there it was too dry and not very flavorful to my taste. Next time I'll just order the steak!

We eat here every trip. The food is always good. We've started going their for lunch instead of dinner. It's a little cheaper and the portions are smaller. Which is fine with me, the dinner is more food than I can eat.

one of our favorite. kids (7,6,2) love it as well. What we like to do is make sure we order something different so we share & try everything...chicken, steak, shrimp, lobster.
