We are going to be taking 5y/o and 8 y/o ds to kennedy and spending one night in cocoa beach area before hitting disney.

Want to know what are some good places to go that may be unique to the area that are kid friendly.

We would be interested in places near wdw so we can eat before we return our rental car.

Lastly what beach would you recommend for some beach time in that area.

Thanks

I'd probably post this on the restaurant board too, you might get more responses.

Rainforest Cafe - Downtown Disney - definitely entertaining dining. Animals that come to life and jungle in the gift shop, an occasional thunder storm, a huge aquarium - it's great!

Kobe Steakhouse - in the Crossroads Shopping plaza just outside downtown Disney. This is the teppanyaki style dining, where the chef prepares the food on the cook top in front of you. They usuallly put on an entertaining time while they cook. We've had some boring chefs at other places before who just merely cook, but my 3 kids are still fascinated with it all. Sometimes they will make corny jokes, stack up the onions and light the center on fire making a volcano and other stuff.

There's always McD's at DTD. No playground, but the Lego playground is right next to it.

Those are our favorites picks - hope that helps some.
Have a great time!

We leave TODAY for our trip!!!!! Yippee!

We have been to the Orlando area twice on a family vacation and never went to Disney! This year will be a our first for Disney.

Yet, we will still be renting a car because we now have a must have eats when in Orlando.

I recommend these two...

Dan Marion's Bar and Tavern in the Orlando Point Mall on International Drive. Great Food! It has a sports theme. The staff is great. We make a night of it cause when we are done eating we to the movies right next door.

A great place for kids is Race Rock! Also located on International Drive. This resturant has a race car theme. Food is along the lines of TGI Fridays. They do offer pizza. This place has so much for the eyes to feast on and a small arcade for the children. When you pull up there is BIG FOOT (the monster truck) parked in the back of the parking lot. It is now a tradition for us to take a picture of Big Foot with DS standing inside of the tire.

Both resturants are moderately priced. I think we spend $40-$50 for a family of 3 at both.

Jungle Jim's is located at the crossroads plaza about 2 blocks from downtown disney. It has a jungle theme which my little ones always loved. It was moderately priced and is usually also in the entertainment book. (you can print 3 free coupons online without getting the whole book) :woohoo:

Have you considered a diner show, Arabian Nights, Medieval times or Pirates Adventure diner show. It's very intertaining, my kids love them. :woohoo:

I ALWAYS get to steak n' shake. It is really cheap, and we all love it. It is a soda fountain burger joint. They are sirloin burgers. Warren Buffets favorite, that's how I leared of them and I have loved them ever since. I think dinner is like $5-$8 bucks. They are all over, look at their website.

There's a Dixie Stampede dinner show also, my kids have been to all of those dinner shows and love them.

I agree with Steak 'n' Shake- it's always a crowd pleaser. And on Kids Night (Tuesday? Anyone know?) they have baloons and stuff... I can't quite remember everything, but it's a nice place to eat.

My family also loves the Golden Corral, and we always make a point to eat there at least twice during our stay- we're from Canada so we don't have either of the mentioned back home:(

Hope your dining experience turns out well!
