I am surprising my parents with ADR's for just the two of them for a special dinner on our upcoming family trip to WDW in May. We are staying at the Beach Club and although they have been to WDW many times, they have not eaten at the following restaurants. I want something special for them. What do you think I should do?

Here are my final choices:

* Cape May Clambake
* Flying Fish
* Yachtsman Steakhouse

(They both eat steak and seafood and are somewhat open to new things.)

THanks for your input!

If this is a special dinner I would go with Yachetsmans. The decor is beautiful and the atmoshpere is upscale without being pretentious. There are fewer children here as well. Our dinner was excellent. The Clam bake was OK. It is a buffet so very casual. You're not going to get that quiet dinner alone feel. You may get a better meal at home being your from the east coast. As for Flying Fish Never been but it seems to get very positive reviews. I have walked by it many times on the way to Spoodles and it looks very cozy....maybe next time we'll try that. HTH :)

Yachtsman is lovely....we will be eating there (again) next week.

Flying Fish would be my second choice but it can be very noisy and the atmosphere is not as cozy.

Cape May I would pass on....

Thanks for the input. I will eliminate Cape May from the list ... now down to Flying Fish and Yachtsman Steakhouse .... leaning toward Yachtsman. I hope my parents are pleasantly surprised!

I would go with Flying Fish. We've always had great meals there and I think the menu is a lot more interesting than YS, which to me is typical steakhouse (but still very good). Dessert is fabulous!

I had the best steak I've ever eaten anywhere at the Yachtsman, so that would get my vote.

I would go to the yachtsman steakhouse. It's one of the best resturants in WDW.

Yachtsman! I have dined there 4 times now and every time, everything has been amazing.:goodvibes

I'd rate Yachtsman and then Flying Fish as 1, 2. Cape May would be a distant third.

Yachtsman is one of the best restaurants on WDW property. Great service and the filet is wonderful. Flying Fish is close behind.

Cape May is probably not a good choice for anybody that has access to good seafood in their own home town as I assume you do in MD.

Yachtsman is awesome, great food and very attentive servers

I was a huge fan of the Cape May Clambake but the last 2 trips (both this year) left us very disappointed. If you do go DO NOT go right when they open. We saw them put the food out at 5, they do not open to 5:30 and alot of the items were very cold and dried out.

For my two cents, its Yachtsman all the way...

allearsnet.

That may help you decide between Flying Fish and Yachtsman.

What a nice thing to do for your parents. I'm sure they will appreciate it no matter where you send them ;)

If you wanted to send them to DTD, we had a wonderful dinner at Fulton's Crab House. I loved that restaurant.

We had a very good dinner at the Yachtsman last week. The only thing that didn't impress us was the Seared Maine Diver Scallop appetizer. DH got that and we both tasted and are certain that the scallops were not fresh. The chillled seafood appetizer was absolutely wonderful! I'd also suggest the mashed potatoes over the gratin potatoes. Both were good but the mashed was better! The atmosphere can't be beat for a special dinner. Our server was excellent - we left an extra tip on top of the DDP's 18%. I was so full that I didn't eat dessert but DH and DD said it was awesome as well. They split my chocolate cake!

Yachtsman's, all the way! We ate there 3 weeks ago, and at that point in our trip, I was like "meh, a steakhouse." WOW was I pleasantly surprised! It even beat out Narcoossee's for top spot with me, and that was hard to do. Yachtsman's food was perfect and the service couldn't have been better. I've already booked us there TWICE for our trip in January. :)

Darn it, now I'm hungry.
