I posted about this a week or so ago, but none of the suggestions were available.

I am helping a friend plan her trip. They are 2 adults and 2 children, 9 and 4. The 4 yr old is in a wheelchair, not ambulatory at all. They originally wanted a monorail resort for convenience. There are no rooms available for their dates. She will be sleeping in a pack n play.

How well will they fit with her equipment in a moderate room?
How easy is it for them with the buses if they split up and one parent goes with the older child and one with the younger child?
How about WL? It would give them a bigger room, how is the boat to MK for wheelchairs? Is there also a bus to MK?
TIA!

All the Value rooms are 260 suare foot. Space includes entire room including bathroom and dressing area.

All the Moderates are 314 SF except CBR which is 340 SF.

The AKL and WL rooms are actually not as roomy as CBR; they have queen bes instead of doubles and are about the same size. I know someone who used to work in Mousekeeping at CBR and AKL and she said the CBR rooms appeared larger.

The othe Deluxe are all 440 SF or larger and give you the most space.

Even if they cannot get a monorail hotel, have they looked into BC, BW or YC? At least for Epcot and MGM they can take a boat which is easy for wheelchairs.

Thanks so much! There is limited availability at the epcot resorts as well - i'll have to check again. is the boat really easy for the wheelchair? the mom was really concerned about that. if not the boat, is there a bus to mgm?

They will all be able to go on the same bus, no need to split up. The bigger boats from WL to MK with a 4yo in a wc will be no problem at all.

Thank you! I meant split up as in one stays in the park with the older child and the other one has to get back with the child in the wc alone.
Good to know about the boat - the mom was concerned about that.

The boats that run between Epcot and MGM, with stops at Y&B, BW and Swolphin, are the Friendships, which are the same as the ones in Epcot's lagoon. They use a floating dock and there is a flat entry between the boat and the dock.

One of the crew members will put down a plate between the two, but often I will board or exit in my ECV without the plate (I own my ECV, don't try it if you are inexperienced and/or using a rental).

What are their dates and are they concerned about a certain budget? They may want to check into the DVC resorts as there will be more space in the room, plus they'll have a microwave and toaster ( plus the fridge). They should have plenty of space though in a moderate resort and it's easy when one is on property at any WDW resort, for part of the group to return to the resort for a rest. ---Kathy

Our son is 10 and uses a wheelchair. We have never needed to get an accessible room as his chair is quite small at this age. We have found that the Epcot resorts are great (walk to Epcot and MGM - we often even just go the the Magic Kingdom via Epcot by using the Monorail). Also, Wilderness Lodge is great as you can easily take the boat the the Magic Kingdom. Don't get me wrong, the Disney busses are great however we love the greater accessibility of walking to the park/taking a boat. We have recently discovered the benefits of a split stay (last trip we spent a few days at Wilderness Lodge (spent most of our MK time there) and then a few days at Beach Club (we spent most of our time at Epcot and MGM). We only ended up taking the bus to Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney. Enjoy your trip.
