Do to loosing my Job I have to cancel our December Trip by saturday.

I put $1800 deposit on one debit card and and the balance of $237 on another.

The first account I closed due to it getting hacked into and money stolen (it is closed)

I ask this am if they could refund it all to the last debit card. This am the gentlman said yes.. but his computers were down and Id have to call back.

So I called back tonight and was told by 3 different supervisors that that they could not do that. That they have to issue it to the closed account and only after the bank rejects it will they then send me a check.

That will take awhile if it ever happens at all. I do not trust the first bank at all.
Since I lost my Job I do need my money fast to get caught up.

Any Ideas on what to do. They will not send me a check or refund to my card that I put the $200 deposit on.

HELP !!!

First of all, WELCOME to the DIS! :yay:

I am so sorry to hear about you losing your job. Let's trust and pray that there is another great job in the pipeline with your name on it!

I would also be a little concerned about the story that you were given by the supervisers about the refund. As far as I understand it, if an account is closed and you try and transfer funds into it, it doesn't actually "go anywhere". It usually sits in some kind of holiding fund, but I doubt that your old bank will be notified about activity on a closed account as it is,er ... closed. It just doesn't sound right.

I would call the new bank (the one you are with now) and ask them what happens in a situation like this. Where would the money go, etc. Did you get anything in writing from when your previous account was closed, stating that it had been closed? I would think that if you send it on to Disney (if they request it, or you could offer to do so) it would suffice as proof of the account being non-existent. Just make sure that you send COPIES not originals of anything you need to send, if anything at all.

Chances are, if you call Disney now, there would have been a shift change from last night and often the employees who work in business hours are better able to assist. That is no criticism in any way of night shift staff, but during the day there are often more resources available to the staff to verify and obtain advice and information. Let us know how you get on. You will be in my thoughts and prayers today. :flower3:

Disney will not refund the money to a different credit card from the one used to make the deposit.

I had nearly the same issue last year. I needed to get a refund, but my account had been closed for just the same reason! I, however, did not change banks, and when Disney insisted on refunding to my closed account, I called the bank, and told them, so when the refund came through, they routed it to my new account, no problems.... This would prolly not work with a whole separate bank:confused::confused: But, like you, I found they were unwilling to budge about refunding it to my new account.
Good luck!!!
:hippie:

Credit/debit card merchant agreements require that a refund be made to the same card charged. It's not Disney's call, it's regulated by the credit card companies and banks.

Perhaps if the refund to the closed card is rejected and bounces back to Disney they will see that and issue a check to you or credit the other card. This usually doesn't happen though. The refund goes through then has to be routed through the original bank for a refund or internal transfer to a new account if there is one. Both these scenarios take time unfortunately.

NOT RESOLVED YET !!

I do not want the money anywhere near that first bank.

I called my bank for the card I put my original first $200 deposit on ( the one I want the rest of the $1837 put on.

CHASE BANK told me there is NO LAW that would prevent DISNEY from refunding to any other card. Credit card? yes. But since this is a DEBIT card and is just like writing a check to Disney........They should refund it VIA check.

I have talked to a few others and no Budging on the issue. My next call is to Meg Crofton. I also sent an email out to EVERY DISNEY executive I could find (45 emails)

I would think I should get a response.

This whole thing is making me sour on the whole Disney experience.

We went 2 times last year and plan on going to Califorinia Disneyland while we attend a wedding in March.

I even ask if I could transfer the money to that trip...NO CANT DO.

I ask to have it all put on a DISNEY GIFT CARD...........NO Cant do !!

Will keep all posted to what happens.

Have you asked Disney if they would accept an original letter from your current bank? Perhaps they could put into writing what they explained to you when you called them?

Just hang in there. Refund processes are never simple and can be very frustrating, but at least you know that it would be really difficult for someone else to get a refund that belongs to you - it is darn near impossible!

Don't let it spoil the magic and excitement that goes along with Disney. These guys have to operate according to the laws put in place. I do believe that somewhere in any situation there is almost always someone with enough authority to over-ride a rule for special circumstances - it is just a matter of finding that person. Your emails should produce at least one result! Let us know what happens. And remember, try and be nice. I know that hearing that when you feel upset is enough to make anyone want to spit .... but being polite usually gets better co-operation and quicker results.

Banks do monitor what money comes in and where to put it, if they don't have an account to put it to, they WILL send it back, banks cannot just KEEP it. I work at a bank and we have issued cashiers checks to people who get refunds on closed accounts, I know you don't want to deal with that bank, but it sounds like you need to deal with them one more time. It sucks I know, but that's the fastest way to get your money.

There may not be any way around it. You might just have to let it go back to the original bank. Notify them, they can't just keep it. Unless you have an overdraft or something there should be no problem. I'm thinking Disney won't transfer money to another card for safety reasons.
