Will be spending 2 days at MK and would appreciate some ideas for Counter service eating. I know Casey's is good but what else would be great for breakfast and lunch (snacks too)? Will be there in October.

My first reaction was “ugh” because QS for lunch/dinner outside of Casey’s is pretty sad. We do Cosmic Ray’s but I wouldn’t call it good. Liberty Tree Tavern used to be an underutilized good option but now everyone knows about it so it gets crowded 🥲

Snacks you have way better options for! Sleepy Hallow waffles are outstanding (esp the nutella + berries). I also appreciate a giant pickle in Liberty Square, or a good old-fashioned hot fudge on soft serve from Storybook Treats.

I know, right? there never were a lot of lunch spots in MK. But I was hoping there was some new gem I didn't know about. They say Columbia Harbor House isn't good anymore! that was a must do place for us years ago.

Ok that walking taco sounds interesting...

Hi @Jaletu2022 , I would add another vote for Pecos Bill at the MK. We don't love the counter service options at the MK but that is the one we will usually stop at. We were there two weeks ago and I had the chicken rice bowl and it was really good! The portions were very generous and I love the ease of ordering on the mobile app. It was ready really fast and we didn't need to wait in any lines! YAH! I have never had Casey's so I cannot compare it but I have always liked the options at Pecos Bill. Have so much fun!!! ☺️

Pecos Bill took a nose dive after reopening, it's trash tier now imo. Honestly outside of Casey's there isn't much to speak of, if I don't eat there I'm generally doing snack crawls for lunch on MK days if I don't want to do a TS. Others mentioned the nutella fruit waffle at breakfast but the spicy chicken and waffle sandwich at Sleepy Hollow is good, and believe it or not the Lunching Pad has some solid hot dog options if you want something a bit more involved than the ones at Casey's. They have breakfast options now too, there's a breakfast bowl iirc that's similar to the one at Woody's Lunchbox at HS only it has chili instead of sausage gravy. And some kind of sticky bread situation. I haven't had either so I can't speak to them but if you want savory instead of sweet breakfast the sausage and gravy tots over at Friar's Nook are a solid choice, that's usually my go to midmorning breakfast snack to hold me over until lunch.

If you don't want to snack crawl for lunch I would say dip out to a monorail resort. They're quiet at that time because everyone's in the parks and the food is way better. We're actually planning on hitting up the Steakhouse 71 lounge for lunch on one our of MK days.

How spicy is that waffle sandwich?

It has a mild kick to it but nothing crazy. I'm probably the wrong person to ask though because I love spicy food and nothing is really spicy to me on property except the hummus fries at Spice Road Table lol. I will say it does get messy because of the sauce and the slaw, the waffle can fall apart on you. I always get a knife and fork to eat it with.

Thanks. I like spice, but I was worried that it might be too much for a child. It looks good though.

Wow! thank you guys so much for the tips. I've seen the waffle chicken sandwich on some Youtube videos and it looks promising. The chicken rice bowl sounds good to me too. Sorry to hear Pecos isn't good anymore. They used to have great hamburgers but they were really crowded too. We're just going to have to snack around - but I'm leaning toward the walking taco and waffle chicken sandwich. Think we might both enjoy those.

Don’t forget the spring roll cart.

You know, I have never been to MK when Tortuga Tavern was opened (it was called the parrot and the pirate back then). We went kind of off season - still lots of people though. Some seem to like it and some don't from what I've read.

Hi. I'm curious to see Casey's mentioned so many time. How are the fries there?

Tortuga Tavern has the most random menu tbh, it's like they just sort of stick whatever on it. I've only ever seen it open once or twice, I usually sit there with treats from Aloha Isle or Sunshine Tree.

The usual Disney quick service fries, thin cut and fresh. Really good! Back when they were still doing themed hot dogs of the month they would also have the same toppings available on the fries. That was before the pandemic closures though. Really wish they would bring those back, my fave was the loaded mashed potato dog.

Sadly, MK counter service is the worst of the four parks. We've never eaten breakfast there, but I've heard good things about the cinnamon roll at Gaston's Tavern and as others have mentioned the waffle sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow get a lot of good reviews.

As for lunch, we still like Pecos Bill but it's not as good as before the shutdown - no fixin's bar hurts. We used to like Columbia Harbor House, but haven't been in a while. I know the menu has been pared down from before. Honestly, for lunch I'd hop on the monorail and take a break from the crowds and heat to grab something at one of the hotels. Captain Cooks is great (pulled pork nachos are delicious!) and I've heard good things about Gasparilla Island Grill. Or even take the boat over to Wilderness Lodge and go to Geyser Point. It's rarely busy during lunchtime and that food will beat anything in the MK by a mile.

For snacks you can't go wrong with a Dole Whip. I especially love the floats and the tropical serenade. I'm probably the only person on the planet that doesn't like the spring rolls though :goodvibes. I found them way to greasy and just not that great, though they are very popular.

I absolutely loved early BOG breakfast. Wish they’d bring that back

Pecos Bill is an embarrassment. I didn't know it was possible to mess up nachos.

I always go Pinocchio Village Haus. The breadsticks and tomato soup are exactly what you expect and the pizza (flatbread) is mediocre.

Or a hot dog at Lunching Pad or Casey's, exactly what you expect it to be. They have some interesting toppings, like right now Bahn Mi.
