NEED Proposal Help.

I am taking my girlfriend on a suprise late b-day trip to DW in Nov, she thinks we are going to minneapolis/mall of america for a business function for my job. I am not going to tell her until we going to DW until we are at the airport, at that time I am going to give her her late b-day present ( a gift wrapped disney guide book).

She has a Paris/Eiffel Tower facination and taking her to Europe is not feasible so I am taking her to DW-Epcot-France. On out first night, I made dinner reservations at Bistro at 8:30pm. During dinner I am planning on grabbing her at 8:50 and dragging her outside for the fireworks ( we met on the 4th of July so fireworks play into our relationship) at the end of the fireworks I am going to pop the question. I am hoping to have the eiffel tower as a backdrop.

I need to know if anyone sees any flaws in this plan ? I have not been to the worldshowcase before , Is the eiffel tower backdrop possible, ? What location would be best for my plan? Also any addtional suggested tips or ideas would greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for anyone able to contribute.

One thought is to make sure she has the right clothes...girls are very picky about their clothes (at least I am). If she thinks you are going to MN, she may pack all wool or parkas.
I talked to my Dad in Tampa tonite and he said it's been 85 degrees there so check the weather before you go. You may have to sneak in a pair of light pants or ss shirt for her, depending on what's up in a few weeks.
Perhaps you need to drop a hint about a fancy "business dinner" so she packs a pretty dress for Le Bistro. She will always remember your marvelous and romantic proposal and she'll want to remember that you all looked nice...and maybe get a picture taken by a CM afterwards!
Best Wishes!

Make sure you have a hankie in your pocket!

That area may be more crowded than you'd like due to Illuminations. I'm not sure about the Eiffel tower back drop. You may be able to call someone at Disney to help arrange some type of proposal. Maybe they could make a special "tower" dessert and the ring can be on the top or something. Then go out and get pics with the backdrop if it's possible.
GOOD LUCK! and Congrats ahead of time!

You said that your dinner resservations are at 8:30 and you want to take her outside for the fireworks at 8:50. If you get seated right away, this will leave you only a short time for dinner. Illuminations (the fireworks) start at 9pm and last for about 15 minutes. Could you maybe try to get a 7:30pm or 8pm ADR? That would give you time to eat and then possibly browse around France before Illuminations starts.

After Illuminations is over, that area will be extremely crowded as 1/2 of the people in the World Showcase will be exiting out past there. It won't be very 'intimate' for a proposal. Maybe let a lot of the crowd pass thru then you would have a great opportunity. Just something else to think about.

Good Luck and keep us posted!!! :lovestruc

Definitely contact Disney - they have an Engagement Package of some type. Friend of ours did it & they even arranged to have the area cleared where he wanted to propose & have a photographer right there to snack Pix of the happy event.

Congrats & good luck.

Also try to Wedding & Honeymoons thread on the board. You may find some other ideas.

OMG, you romantic fool you! She is going to love this, I'm sure! I think your plan is great, I like the idea of the late dinner because after illuminations, you go back in to a quiet dinner, I'm sure they will not rush you! I agree with the contact Disney and see if there is something they could do to help you pull this off, like find the perfect spot for you to propose (BTW, I think it's more romantic that you hand her the ring yourself and propose, much more personable, good call!)

Please find the time (if you can) to post when all is done, maybe with some pictures???? :flower:

Good luck! By all means call and talk to disney. They should be able to help with ideas and suggestions for that area too.

I second the idea....CALL DISNEY!! You want to pics to be perfect. Pay for the engagement package and that way the stage is set to get the perfect pics with the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop. I would also see if dinner reservations can be for at least 1/2 hur prior to your current reservations. There is no way even if you get seated right away that you will be done in time for Illuminations.

Good Luck! And you have to tell us all about how it went.
