I just can't bring myself to spend $100+ on full body pirate and princess costumes for hubby and me, but we'd like to do *something* to liven it up a little!

What fun ideas have you seen for grownups, that won't cost a fortune? Also, it will likely be very very hot even at night when we are going, and there is NO WAY I'm draping us in velvet or lace or satin.

TIA!

do you want to be a pirate or a princess?!??! of course your hubby would be a pirate and the only things that come to mind that are really easy is an eye patch, bandanna & a skull shirt....

for you, if you want to be a pirate, you can find a red & white stripped shirt, put in one big hoop earing, another bandanna or a head wrap that you can use as a headband but have it hang really really long in the back, a black skirt that you can shred at the bottom...
as a princess because its going to be hot I would think a long dress is out of the question... wear a tiara, make a sparkly wand....

My friend and I will be there as princesses in August, we're wearing short summer skirts sparkly tank tops with wedding tiaras and jewlery we bought cheap on e-bay. If you don't e-bay Claires, icing by claires, or Deb stores have some "princessey" jewlery for cheaper too. All in all I think we have spent,$30 for all of it.

I'm wearing ragged cut up jeans - a dirty t-shirt complete with burn holes- I'm buying a pirate hat with mickey ears at Disney and I'm putting some dirty looking make-up on my face and black circles around each eye. I'm trying to get my DW to wear a "cute" pirate outfit, but she says "no chance". My 2 DD are making their own costumes. Nothing fancy or expensive.pirate:

You guys are doing better than me because we're not really going to wear costumes. I made my DS a POTC T shirt with his name on it and a cool skull. I ordered my DD a princess T shirt with her name on it. DH isn't into pirates and he's an old fuddy duddy anyway, so he's going as himself.:scared: :lmao:

If I can find or make a princess or pirate T shirt, then I'll wear that, but no big deal. It'll be too hot to wear a costume and I don't feel like packing them.

I am still very much on the fence about whether to wear a pirate wench costume or not- simply because of the heat. DS4 has his Captain Jack costume that we will put on for photo opps, but otherwise he will stick to a Pirate T shirt I made and shorts (at least for the early part of the night)

Now, I am no good at sewing but I have played around with clothes from Good Will for past halloween costume and I think that is what I am going to do for P&P. I will probably pick up a skirt and vest from Good Will and distress them enough, maybe even get RIT dye and change the color. I'll probably wear a tank top underneath the vest because of the heat...

I got DH and DS POTC shirts for $4.99 at the Disney Store and DS is going to where Mickey Pirate Ears. I am wearing a t-shirt that says Never too old to be a princess" that someone from the Designs board made for me. That's about as costumed up we are going to get.

I bought our Costumes on Ebay, I'm a Pirate Wench, DN-15 is Sally Swashbuckler and DN-13 is Caribbean Pirate Babe LOL. We've all tried them on and they are all light material and look awesome. The Girls are very excited about being able to dress up at Disney. Can't wait to get Pictures taken pirate:

I found a princess T shirt at Fashion Bug and I bought a toy tiera complete with earrings. I thought about a wand, but I don't want to carry it around. I'm not sure if my friend and her son are dressing up or not.

I posted a pic of me in my first pirate costume idea in my pre-trippie (in my sig.) but I told all my friends that I wanted to dress up as a pirate & everytime I leave the house someone hands me a bag with something from their closet they think might work! So who knows what I'll end up, but I definately suggest telling people your goals. Maybe someone even has a pirate costume in their closet.

My boyfriend has always been into pirates, so he has tons of shirts, even some hats to pick from. I found myself a white tank top with red stripes and an anchor on it that says First Mate at Kohls, and I'm going to wear that with a black skirt or gaucho pants , a bandana and hoop earrings. I didn't know they sold pirate mickey ears,,,they are going to be a must have for my boyfriend!

I have had so much fun getting ready for this party. DD (6) is going in a Tinkerbell princess type outfit and DH and I as pirates. I went to Salvation Army and found a perfct black shirt for DH that I cut the sleeves and bottom to look ragged and old. He'll wear an old distressed t-shirt underneath vest like shirt and a pair of long brown shorts. I'm on the look out for a hat and an earing. To top it off we have black halloween make-up to use on face and shirt. For myself, I have a black pair of goucho pants, feathery and light, a red low cut ornate flowy tank top, a black shirt cut into a vest that laces up front, gaudy jewelry (3 necklaces and earings), and working on a bandana/scarf thing for head and a black belt. I so can't wait until
August 15. If you are there that night I'll probably be in wheelchair (foot surgery 8 days before Disney), stop and say Hey Matey.

Since there was a warning about bringing "real looking" weapons, I found an inflatable pirate sword at Party City for $2.99 and bought it for DH to wear along with his pirate hat. I will probably wear one of my tiaras. It is too insanely hot to wear a costume.
