I was finally able to speak to my mother in law for a little while this evening. Hopefully they will know more on Sunday. She did mention, and we briefly discussed, that they did have the
travel insurance so much of the expenses may very well be covered.

She could not say enough nice things about
Royal Caribbean. They assigned someone to stay with her the entire time, help her make all arrangements and also had someone meet her at each stop along the way to escort her on the next leg of her journey. She mentioned something about a speed boat from one small island to the larger island where she got on a small plane which was waiting to take her to Miami. I joked that she's been away playing James Bond.

She said the ship doctor and staff were top notch and that within a matter of a minute or two, in the middle of the night, there were over 20 people in her room.
When I spoke with the ER last night before any of the family got there, they asked about insurance and medical history. I knew none of it but was able to reach out to FIL's doctor's office who immediately called the ER and provided all information they needed.
For as much as this has been horrible, and isn't over yet, it just seemed that all the stars aligned and everything fell in to place so that he has a very good prognosis. Stars aligning or family, friends and DISer prayers... you decide.
