Did anyone see anything on the news about the official opening at 8:00am on 6/26? Any links to video footage would be greatly appreciated. Site suggestions too. I was in the first family too ride that morning. My kids got pirate t-shirts & we were all given pirate mickey ears. We were interviewed & had a pirate escort.
TIA

Sorry I didn't but just wanted to say "WOW!" Congratulations on such a neat experience. That's something you'll never forget. Hope you enjoyed the ride, I can't wait to try it. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I didn't see it, but DANG! Congratulations! What a great memory to have and I bet your kids are tickled pink!

Hey, you wouldn't want to give us a little review would ya??

Thank you. Yes everyone was thrilled to be chosen. Does anyone know who to contact at Disney to see if I can buy some of their pictures? I'm kind of surprised that they didn't offer that option at the time, I was just too caught up in the moment to think logically. I did take some pictures with my camera, but I haven't developed them. I will today. The ride was great! I think that everyone will enjoy the changes.
TIA

No. That must have been on 6/25 when it was not officially open. We were the first family that Disney dubbed "The Royal Family" on 6/26(Monday). We were their for EE at 7:00am. We were near the front of the group waiting at the Frontierland entrance that was roped off when we were chosen around 7:30am. We were in front of the ropes & they waiting croud with the entertainment until we lead the crowd to the ride. The "Timekeeper" pirate was our escort & rode in the first boat with us inbetween my daughter & her cousin. I was in the 2nd row of the boat. There was so many cameras that I am surprised that it is so hard to find footage. We were interviewed after the ride as well. My kids were also given black pirate t-shirts & were wearing perate mickey ears. Thanx for the link, that was not us.

Yeah you would think that would be the most easiest to find, since that was the official opening of the ride. :confused3 What a cool experience though for your family!

How early did you line up at Frontierland during the EE? I was hoping to get over there at like 7:45 am to beat the crowd of people coming in at regular opening. But it sounds like a lot of people are lining up much earlier then that during EE!

We were first in our line going into the park at 7:00am & walked to Adventureland which was roped off & were told to go to Fronteirland which was also roped off. So basically we went directly to Fronteirland after entering the park. A lot of people went directly there, the crowd grew large fast. We were very close to the front of the crowd before we were picked around 7:30am. I had a feeling that people would go directly there after seeing people go directly to the red carpet area at 6:30am on Saturday.

Oh wow, I guess a lot of people had the same idea! So I guess 7:45 would be a bit too late! LOL Darn these people, they aren't supposed to be as smart as us on the DIS! :rotfl:

Yes, I realize the picture date says 6-25. I regret not correcting the date before we left for our trip. I knew it was off by a day, but I didn't think it was a big deal. Oh well. This picture was actually taken 6-26 shortly after 7:30am. The pirate in the picture called himself the Time Keeper. I only have 4 pics total & just the one with the pirate. Disney staff took my stroller & back pack to be helpful, but unfortunately that contained my camera.

If anyone has seen more pictures of us somewhere please post a link.

TIA

She did great. She is 2 1/2. She has rode POTC in WDW many times before. She calls skeletons "ghosties". She likes to sing the pirate song too, except her version starts with "Yo Yo......." instead of Yo ho. She thinks the treasure is pretty neat too.

we were there too (we saw your kids get the hats). We were in line at 6:30 but didn't run like everyone else to frontierland. So there were probably 25 people between us. My ds had gotten to ride the day before for the soft opening. We rode it 4 times the rest of the week but only late at night when the line was better. One of the cameras said "channel 2" and I know that it was on live because I was talking to a friend who was still at her hotel and she was watching us.

Thank you for your help. I hope something will turn up. We only rode it that one time, it was our last day.

My first post....

most of the local news channels here in LA covered the ride's opening. Our local ABC station had the most coverage and access (it's owned by Disney)

it's KABC7

Try typing in pirates or Disneyland in the search engine on the site and you'll get lots of links to stories about the ride and movie, I know they have several video clips on the site.

also try KCBS2 and KNBC4

Hope you find yourself.

(sorry, site won't let me post url's)
