Need Postcards from Disney Cruisers for son's class

I was on the 10/9 sailing of the Carnival Glory and mailed postcards from Belize, Cozumel and Progresso. Unfortunately it may take weeks for them to arrive.

I have not seen a recent update on how this project is going. I believe 10/7 was the last update.

I'm sending one from TX, and asked my husband to send one from his business trip to Shanghai (he's there right now), but can't promise that he'll be able to do it (or that it would ever arrive!).

Good luck with the contest!

Sorry for not updating, but can you believe it that with all the hurricanes and the storms (lightning) we have been getting almost daily, all three of my computers crashed. I am actually borrowing a neighbors.

He is in the lead. He has close to 250 points right now. They are coming in from all over the world and the USA. I will be going into his class this coming week to record them all for his teacher, so I will be able to see each and every one and then update where they are coming in from. Don't fret, I will post them here and let you know.

Thank you. Some of the cards are just beautiful from what he tells me. Everyday he comes in really excited to tell me - China, New Zealand, Australia, Africa, UK, Canada and of course, the US and Caribbean.

How are they counting cards from military/APO addresses - like Iraq or if someone is stationed on an Army Post in Germany sends one?

I think that there is a listing of where each APO is - if I can provide that, will cards from those places work for him?

Got a few friends in Germany and a hubby in Iraq that would do it for me...

They will count them as international. Send me the list so that we can have it.

We have been trying to get a grant for the project and try to address and answer each card the kids get, so it is a lot more interesting.

We received from the other day from the US Consul Charge'd'affaires Officer in Sichuan, Chengdu, China which was very interesting. Just to show you how much it does for their learning he mentioned in the card that he did not have enough space to write all about the area, so he proceeded to send a two page email. I forwarded it to his teacher and she then proceeded to talk about the card, the area and to learn more about the area. Also, a few emails have gone back and forth and it has been interesting to get emails from him. He seems to be a very nice person who took the time to read the email and sit down and teach the kids a lot about this area. I even learned that they were the first to make a dam in 500 BC.

Just wondering If Your son Has Recieved the 2 cards We Mailed While on Our Cruise ??

Peter

Hoping he has gotten the two we sent, from different cities, different names (one using my maiden name)

Good luck to Kevin!

Yes, he has received them. Total point over 500 so far as of Friday. Will update this weekend.

Thank you all.

Again, a big "THANK YOU" to all of you. He has over 600 points. It ha been so amazing and we even got a pen pal buddy in Iraq who flies a UH-60 Blackhawk and sent him some awesome pics and emails. Now the teacher is doing a project with the kids and these guys, which is so great. Imagine, whoever thought that such a small request would lead to something like this.

Okay, things have been hectic at home. My husband was told this past week that they discovered a lung tumor and his liver enzymes are high. Tomorrow we will be in the hospital all day getting tests, cat scans, ultra sound, etc. I was supposed to go to his teacher's class and go through all the cards, but I will have to do it another day this week.

Hopefully this will not be anything serious and everything is okay.

Take care and thank you to each and every one of you.

I will say a prayer that all goes well for your DH. Miracles to happen.

I hope your DH is ok, good luck with all the testing. Just think about each of us that sent the cards also sending prayers asking for good test results and don't worry.:D

Just reading this thread, what a fun project! I didn't notice any arriving from Guam yet. Wonder if that will count as international as Guam is an US territory. I'll mail one out today but it will take about a week to reach you. Best wishes.

what a neat idea. I am going to Buenos Aires and then on to Antarctica in January, and am getting ready to make my postcard list. It may take up to a couple months for the one from Antarctica to arrive though.

Guam will count as International, it is a territory of the US not a state like Alaska and Hawaii.

Antarctica will be neat. The newsletter that just came home mentioned that is one of the places they are missing. So, they will be very thrilled.

Thank you again.

Maria (Kevin's Mom)

Maria, I have made a postcard label and will send one to your son's class in mid January. I believe it could take a month or so to reach it's destination. Supposedly where I will be able to mail from send their postmarked mail to the Falkland Islands, then to England and then to it's final destination. I am going to suggest this to my son's social studies teacher. What a neat idea!

Over 600 from all over except Antarctica.

We have been blessed to have had his email referred to a battalion of US soldiers in Iraq and they have been emailing him, his class and teacher. She is now working on a project with the kids and them.

It is so amazing how things happen. Here is an excerpt from an email he received: I'm honored to have Kevin as my little brother, and i also look foward to his emails, we're almost outta here and all of a sudden Kevin appears into my life, it makes me think, that God was saving the best for last, i'm not too much of a religious man but i'm very spiritual, and we're here for a reason.Funny you should mention "veterans day" cause i almost forgot, holidays here are just like any common day, but thank you, this is my second tour in the middle east, i'm a "desert storm" vet. Desert storm was a walk in the park compare to this, you're constantly in danger here, yesterday was a bad day, we were being sheel all day, is has gotten so common that it does'nt even phase us any more. This base is vital to all the deployments in and out of the country and the insurgents know that, there fore that makes us sitting ducks, you never know where and when is gonna hit, that's why i like going out on mission, at least out there one stands a fighting chance, but that' s just me, some say i'm crazy or just playing hero,i'm neither, i just wanna serve the purpposed, that's all. Sorry about that, i could go on and on......Anyway, i got my buddies involved in Kevin's project and they're glad to help, one female soldier ask me to tell you, maybe Ms O'Donnell can send us xmas ornaments from the kids in school, like candy canes for the tree?? i said, i don't know i'll ask her, so, i'm asking, can you?

This email was sent to me, not to Kevin as I had written him to thank him for helping with the project. I did not change any of the spelling and I am pretty sure they are in a rush when they are doing their emails.

We will be sending them the xmas ornaments and try to make their holidays a little brighter.

If any of you would want to do something for a soldier overseas but know no one or has an address, please go to this website: www.anysoldier.us

Thank you to all that send in postcards. Here is what she gave me this week. Keep in mind that many more have been received, but she did not send me those yet. I will acknowledge them as soon as she forwards them to me:
