Need Poodle Info

Have had Toy Poodles *consistently* since 1971. Life would be sad without one! I'm happy to hear that your DW wants to add one to your family. You'll find a Poodle, when brought into the home as a puppy, can adapt well to anything *as long as it's loved*! :teeth: Hope to hear more later in the day about your new "baby". Warmest congratulations!

As for the other poster that is talking about bigger dogs barking vs. smaller dogs barking, I have that.

My poodle does bark. He does do some heavy duty barking at 4 am if someone drives by or if someone does an early morning jog. He is extremely alert very quickly. He is more of a a watch dog than my Lab. My lab is a senior dog (15), and she hardly ever barks.

I constantly see the Lab all stretched out sleeping at 4 am, when the poodle starts barking. That poodle is very concerned for all of us. He sounds much larger on the other side of the door I am sure. If the poodle barks enough, the Lab will eventually get up and check it out.

My poodle is very protective. He follows my son around like no ones business. He tolerates my daughter but he is getting better with her. (To be fair, my daughter was young when we got him, and he was young, so there was a lot of holding, dressing him up when we weren't looking and such) Now they have both matured and they get along better.

Thanks, everybody, for all the great info! It alleviated so many of our fears! "Mickey" - an 8 wk. old white male toy poodle came home with us tonight!! He already seems to be adjusting nicely - no problems (so far ) introducing him to the other dogs, but the inside cat is DEFINITELY "dissing" us.... (He took HER lap!) Believe me...I've plenty of lap to go around!! Lucy (the cat) will get over it. Eventually.
I'll get pix on the board tomorrow...or as soon as I figure out how to do it! My DH (Parrothead365) spoils me SO rotten!! This will probably cost me another trip down to see the Mouse... oh darn! Throw me in that briar patch!!! ... Oh yeah, next question... anybody know anything about the Disney kennels?? Thanks again to everyone for all the great input!!!

Wow, that was fast! :hyper2: Sounds like Mickey's fitting right in! Can't wait to see pics tomorrow. Have a fun night!! :paw:
