It's a sign of the times unfortunately. The Plano area is very Conservative and it seems almost like people who aren't Conservative strike back quicker when they don't like something. Political correctness is running rampant in the area. The Frisco High School recently changed its team name to the Raccoons from the 'Coons. 'Coons was an abbreviation for Raccoons but lots of people took it the wrong way.mafibisha said:
We started out in Plano. Plano is HUGE now and West and East Plano are quite different from one another. East Plano is the older area with some ragged areas and some very nice areas. People who keep horses and like trees tend to move to that side.
West Plano is newer and bigger with tons of suburbia mixed with retail and restaurants of every type. There's a big office complex on this side and a Starbucks on virtually every corner.
We enjoyed Plano but everything is so big there so we moved to Frisco which is much smaller (for now anyway). Houses are being built like crazy but if he intends to stay a while, he shouldn't have any trouble selling. Used homes are being ignored since so much new construction is going on but Frisco will of course be built out eventually.
One problem with Frisco is that it will be surrounded by toll roads. It's easy to avoid them if you're only going to Plano but it's hard on those who travel to downtown Dallas or Las Colinas or the like during this construction phase. The tolls aren't too bad especially if one has an EZ Pass but it's something to consider.
Allen and McKinney are all right there too. Both are nice towns and it's hard to tell where any of these communities begin and the other ends.
Schools are great, the city is fairly responsive and we like it. Tell him to avoid moving into an area served by TXU Electric. This is a co-op and they've very unpopular for good reason. Texas law says that you can change utility companies UNLESS it's a co-op so we're stuck.
