Need Party of 11 Dinner Ideas

My parents are taking the whole family (11 of us) in August and her only requirement is 1 breakfast (Chef Mickey's) and dinner one night. The problem is we have some extremely picky eaters and we really want to be able to be able to sit together. I called WDW Dining and the CM suggested large restaraunts, like Biergarten, 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace, and Whispering Canyon. My mom is thinking of Via Napoli, and is pretty much open to anything on the dining plan, and anywhere on site. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I've never been with a big group before!

We are planning on eating at Ohana's with the adult kids (grandparents are taking the kids, WooHoo!), and one princess dinner, hopefully CRT for my little princess.

if you have extremely picky eaters, it's best to stick to buffets.
And all buffet restaurants will easily fit your group.

Buffets will be your best bet for picky eaters, usually everyone can find something. You will increase your chances of eating together and won't have to wait as long to be seated if you pick an early time to eat dinner - within the first 1/2 hour of the dinner seating. We have traveled with groups of 15-18 and are never separated at restaurants, buffet or not, when we have ADRs in the first 1/2 hour. It may seem early, but the trade off is worth it to us and then we just plan the rest of our meals around the early dinner time...maybe a light or early CS lunch and/or a late snack. The only time we have been separated was with a group of 11 at a Le Cellier dinner when we were not in the first half hour. We have also eaten there with the same size group with an early seating and they sat us together.

Thanks for the help, I was really thinking that was the direction we needed to go. My dad was concerned the buffets were more the Golden Corral type, and we would have to fight for a large table! As long as a restaurant has one type of chicken we're usually ok.

My husband and I are having a hard time deciding on where we want to eat, because we're trying to eat at all of our favorite places. I need to lose weight just so I can gain it all back eating at Disney!

I think Biergarten and Boma are the two restaurants/buffets I'd steer clear of. While there is stuff for everyone it is definately more limited then say CP.

I have to disagree with this post. I definitely don't think they are limited- if anything they have a much more extensive number of choices

Have a good look under the dining tab at the top of the page. Read through the buffet restaurant descriptions and their sample menus and see which appeals most to you. I think you'll find a buffet to suit your tastes with no trouble at all.

We just got back from a trip in December with 11 of us. We were able to sit together at Chef Mickey's, Restaurant Marrakesh (really good), and Tutto Italia. We were placed at separate tables at Coral Reef. I'd definitely try Biergarten too. Make ADRs!

ADRs will be essential. We have a group of 12 going in March and have all the buffets on our list. Not all the buffets are great but for the most part they are way above the average buffet you would find in your hometown.

Some other ideas: We're doing Teppen Edo (nice family style sitting, I think you could get nine to a table or they could put you guys at two tables in the same room ), Biergarten is a solid option for a large group of you size, also something like Hoop Dee Doo might be fun for a large group... enjoy

I completely agree with this. Biergarten has ALOT of sausages and the likes. Boma has alot of variety but alot of spices. There are very few meat potato type dishes american style. I like both buffets, but we have some picky eaters in our party and these places were difficult and they ate alot off the kids buffet.

Please note that you may not be seated at the same table no matter where you go. We have been split up before at Crystal Palace (we were in a party of 11 or 12). We sat together at Liberty Tree Tavern, Ohana, and Artist Point, and Hoop Dee Doo,though, but it is never a guarantee.

My husband and I are definetly going to Boma, we stayed at AKL 2 years ago and LOVED this, but it definetly would not be a crowd pleaser for the large group. We are less than 30 days for our 180 day ADR opening, and I'm the one that has been the most, which means me gently guiding my parents to a good place! We have little ones so eating early will be no problem. We're staying at the Contemporary, and at this point I'm leaning towards 1900 PF. I've given the picky eaters this website for the menus, and I keep throwing out suggestions and they say yes or no. It took about a month to get my dad to understand the buffets are much more organized than what he's used to. Thanks for the help and suggestions, keep them coming!
