on our next trip my hubby wants to eat at a buffet in WDW. hopefully we will be there sometime at the end of nov/beginning of dec!!

we have been to chef mickeys a lot so he doesn't want to go there again. we didn't care for 1900 park fare either.

i am not sure of any other buffets, can you suggest some?

i do see that fort wilderness has a few, but i don't think we want burgers and chicken.

thanks in advance!

We love the Crystal Palace. It is a character buffet and has Pooh and friends there. The food is really good IMO and we have always had outstanding service there.

Also the Cape May gets good reviews so we will be trying it in October.

Have you thought about OHana?

You don't say whether you plan on eating breakfast, lunch or dinner or if you don't mind which meal it is. This will obviously have an effect on what is on offer on the buffet.

What kinds of foods do you like? What didn't you like about chef mickeys/1900 park faire? Are you picky or do you like to try everything & do you like ethnic food or prefer to keep it simple?

I think that will help us give you some more targeted suggestions. :goodvibes

Crystal Palace is my favorite. I love it. A cute little restaurant, good food and it is in MK...don't have to leave my favorite park to enjoy a good meal.

There are other places that aren't buffet, but are all you can eat, like Liberty Tree Tavern, Whipering Canyon Cafe...maybe those would appeal to him.

Boma :thumbsup2 Especially if you are looking for a buffet that isn't burgers and chicken.

I'd also agree with the PP and vote for Crystal Palace.

My favorite buffet is Crystal Palace, but we were very pleasantly surprised by the lunch buffet at Tusker House at AK. There was a large variety of foods, and both the adults and kids liked it.

Also, Baloo was standing in the entrance area on our way out, with a really short line. The kids were able to meet him without much of a wait, so that was an added plus.

If you are strictly looking for a buffet I would suggest Cape May Cafe. The food and service are quite consistent. If you are open to an "all you can eat family style" restaurant then I would suggest 'Ohana at the Poly. It's great!!

I would also have to recommend Cape May. Very relaxing, food was good & the character interaction was great.

sorry i left some information out... we love chef mickeys but we have done it like 10 times lol. i had done 1900 park fare and loved it 2 years ago... when we went a year ago we had to wait 2 hours, the food wasnt up to disney par and we were sat in a corner and only had character interaction with the stepmother.

DH will eat ANYTHING! i am more traditional in my tastes - but well, i wont eat sushi, oxtail, goat, deer, duck... lol you get the idea. and i cant have anything spicy.

we are interested in dinner (not breakfast or lunch).

that being said, i love the suggestions... we are not set on a character meal but we always LOVE them.

Cape May - we are from NJ and have been to the actual cape may area - so i am not sure we want to go to cape may. besides that, my DH would like the dinner to be on the monorail line from MK - or in MK.

Ohana - I really love this idea. i love the idea of tropical surroundings and we ate at the poly once and it was really good. is this a character meal? is it a buffet?

Boma - where is this? what type of food is served?

Crystal Palace - as many times as i have been to MK i have never eaten here. i think its because mainly i am not the hugest pooh fan, lol. i always admired the building and wondered what it was like inside and honestly i dont think i have read anyones review on it. also, it would be perfect because its located right in MK, where we will be.

any other ideas?

sorry for the added questions. i really do appreciate the help!!

Boma is at the Animal Kingdom Logde. It is african inspired cuisine, definitely worth trying for something new.

Crystal Palace is wonderful and the food is always fresh and good. :thumbsup2

There are some other buffets in Disney as well.

Tusker House at Animal Kingdom
Hollywood and Vine at Hollywood Studios (though it is not as good as the other buffets on property)
Trails End at Fort Wilderness

O'hana is not actually a buffet, but it is all you care to eat and served at your tables family style. Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge is the same type of meal with different food and theming.

If you are looking for MK or on the monorail I would choose Crystal Palace hands down. :goodvibes

We like Crystal Palace for dinner. :thumbsup2

We aren't the biggest Pooh fans, but I'm a picky eater--plain and simple food, please!--and my BFF is much more adventurous. She can try different things while I stick with the tried and true! *LOL*

We've found that CP seems to hold food at appropriate temperatures. And there is sufficient variety to please both of us!
