Need opinions (very late arrival at MCO)

Help,

We are arriving at ll:30 p.m. Jan 2. How late in the day can I rent a car from National.

If you have rented a car this late at National, please share your experience. Would you do it again/pro /cons.

I am worried we are gonna have a delay somewhere coming from Minnesota (weather) and be stuck at the airport with no car.

Maybe staying onsite at MCO is the way to go. We don't have any reservations for the first nite yet, staying onsite the rest of the time.
