Need opinions on the Leapster L-Max

I just want to make sure I understood everyone's postings. First ? my 6 yr old DS who is in K will love the Leapster(checking age range). Second ? Lmax games will also work in the orginial Leapster?
He has been asking for one. We also drive to WDW which I thought it would be a wonderful vacation trip toy.
Thank You :)

My DS6 really likes his Leapster LMax. If I had to do it again, I would have asked my mother to save the money and not get the LMax as the big difference is being able to play it on TV which he has never done. I wish it had more games available. He wants more action oriented games. It has been a great toy for the car or while waiting at appointments or anywhere else. He was so excited when he got the new one yesterday to replace the broken one and said he is going to play it a lot now (that's a lot considering he just got a Nintendo DS last week). I have a feeling that he feels comfortable playing the Leapster games - for his age level and he has much better success.

Yes, the Leapster is perfect for up to 8yrs old. After that I would imagine the current games would get tiring. All the Lmax games work on my original leapster. We have the original gray one. It makes a great driving toy. You can plug headphones. :cool1:

Yes, LMax games work in the Leapster; they're also a bit more expensive!

Also, Leapster games will work in the LMax, they just won't display on the TV when you connect the LMax to the TV. My DS6 does like to plug it into the TV when he plays at home, so this was definitely a selling point with us.

What games would you suggest for a 6 year old girl?

My 5yr old son and 3yr old dtr *LOVE* their Leapsters!!!! I got them but feared they wouldn't play with them at all. So not at all!! We have about 6 games and they both love to play them all, plus the built-in games in the Leapster.
