I had nothing better to do tonight than obsess about our Disney trip (leaving Dec 6!!) and read the boards. After reading all the replies, and having nothing better to do, I thought I'd jump in.
Like was mentioned by a previous poster, I too read about making a salad off the fixings bar on another board. I really thought it was a joke at first but then I realized the person posting the tip was serious. Lots of people replied that they did it and even which places to try it at. They had suggested mixing the ketchup with water to make salad dressing.
Now I'm all for saving money but really ... imho that just goes too far. I'm ashamed to admit it but my cousin's wife is a person that goes too far.
She had invited our family to Disney with her this past December, our dh couldn't get time off work ... lucky for them. I will never ever travel with her again. No matter where we were she took handfuls of napkins and I don't mean 5 or 6, I mean huge handfuls each time. She took huge handfuls of condiment packets every opportunity she could and stuffed those in her duffel-type bag too. Our hotel (off-site) had a free breakfast buffet each morning and she put food in her bag "so I don't have to buy lunch in the parks". Speaking of the parks, she told her kids to lie about the age of the youngest so she could get her in for free ... that's another thread though. I was so appalled by her behavior that it took a few months after getting home before I could even talk to her. She always complains that her dh, my cousin, never takes her anywhere. Well, if she acts this way with him too it's no wonder. We were raised better than that.
So, my point? It's people like her that spoil it for the rest of us. Basically, if it wasn't nailed down she took it. What's even more sad is that the free food she stuffed in her bag went in the trash because her kids wanted something else for lunch.
