Need opinions on Ohana's dinner

We were there at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb. We've been there many times before, and it was as good as ever! We absolutely love it & make sure to go once every trip, sometimes for breakfast too!

We're from LA too, and all of our friends that have been there have said it's their FAVORITE. So now this time we have to go there and try it out. It didn't take a lot of convincing for my dad once he found out it involves eating as much meat as possible... What part of LA are you from?

We're in West Monroe. I have a Where Are All The Lousiana WDW Lover thread over on the community board. Please come join in!

I wondered about the breakfast. But, we aren't big breakfast eaters and usually just snack in the room.

Love it there!! I think you guys will too!!

We all know about the new dining system not allowing us to book at the 180day mark like we used to. So, that's got me doubting some of my earlier thoughts.

We have a pretty picky son who will be 12 years old. He doesn't like anything with lots of sauce or gravy.

I'm wondering how we would like Ohana's dinner.

Any thoughts or pics?

Children are allowed to order off of Kona's Kid Menu if there is nothing on the Ohana offerings taht they like. I did this with DD3 a few yrs ago (8 now)

We have a DS who is also 12. He's not really a picky eater at all, will happily eat at the WS restaurants in Epcot and loves Boma, but the one restaurant he does not like is Ohana. We've been there twice and both times he ended up getting a cheeseburger. It's strange because he loves meat, but Ohana just doesn't do it for him!

Funny how kids are. Ours and a niece loved Ohana, and Hated BOMA, thought the food there was wierd and seasoned bad. They asked for chicken nuggets at Boma cuz the food was, in their words.."disgusting"

:wizard: We ate at Ohana this past Jan for the first time. It is now are favorite new place. The night before we had PS for the 50's in HS and after 45 minutes a waiting we gave up. When we got to Ohana we were late like 15 minutes. They could not have been nicer. they sat us in 15 minutes. The food is spicy at times. So if you do not like spicy ask. The dessert was really good too.

We ate at O'Hana last week. We had 8:15 ressies. They got us in a little early. We thought the wings were really good and the kids loved them. Of all the meats I liked the pork the best. The kids did too. Our waiter was awful! He was super crabby! The boys had questions about tikis and he just looked at us and said "I don't know" and left. He brought the shrimp over when we were all done eating so no one really touched them. The dessert was good. Everyone liked it.

I don't think we will go back. I don't really know what I was expecting and maybe my expectations were too high.:confused3 It also could have been our sour-puss waiter.

My almost 12dd would agree. And she loves anything with an asian flavor. I have to say, the night we were there, I was not impressed either. The steak tasted like it was old, the shrimp were wet, they squished. The pork was extremely dry. The only thing that was good was the turkey (with the peanut sauce), which was the one I thought neither of us would like.

We have gone to O'hana on our last two trips (Oct & Jan), and after the last trip my husband put it on our must do list. There are very few Disney restaurants that my family likes, but at O'Hana everyone loves the food including my very fussy ds(10). You should definitely try it at least once.

Is it possible to get steak at Ohana that is not overcooked?
BTW by my definition medium rare is overcooked.

Is part of the show outside? If so, what do they do if it rains?

You're probably thinking of the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. Not the same thing as Ohanas, but it is at the Poly too. Yes, part of THAT is outside, but I have no idea what they do if it rains! Ohanas the restaurant, however, is inside the Polynesian.

Yes, that's what I was thinking about.

We were there a couple weeks ago- above is my review of our dinner and comments from some other folks.

I did forget to mention the chicken wings and pork dumpling type things- I guess cause I didn't have any;) but they were loved by others in my party. You get tons of food.

Take apeek at my review and perhaps it will help you.
(we would go back)

Thanks a bunch!

DH and I went in Jan and LOVED it. The food was great and there were a lot of different options to taste and try. I loved the bread and the salad and DH loved all the different meats. We both adored the bread pudding for dessert~ I was glad I had saved a small corner in my stomach:love:

We've pretty much decided that O'Hanas is now on our list of restaurants to visit this go round. I am still a little concerned about my picky 12 year old son though. He just likes pizza, fries, chicken strips, hot dogs, burgers and corn dogs.
