Need Opinions on Cakes

So I am pretty much set on having dd's birthday cake at lunchtime at Crystal Palace, and ds's cake at dinner time at whispering canyon (different days). I just called WC and they don't have the 8 inch cake, which is what I wanted. They only have the small six inch, then the next smallest is the ten inch. I don't know what I am going to do with all that leftover cake. Its $45!! We are staying at the WL, but we won't have a refridge so I am limited on what to order. They have a whipped cream icing but it would need to be refidgerated. Does anyone have opinions on what tastes best? My filling options are choc. buttercream, vanilla bc, choc mousse, or raspberry fruit filling. I wonder what the fruit fililng tastes like? How does CP sound for DD? I haven't called them yet so I don't know their options but they are probably pretty similar. Needopinions, especially from people who have had WDW's cakes.

I am just curious - why will you not have a fridge at the WL?

Other than having something delivered from the GF bakery, which might cost more than just getting the 10 inch. When we have a birthday with extra cake we try to "include" a few small children at another table. That way we do not have to take cake home. Maybe you could do they same there!

The lady I spoke to on the phone about the cake said that the rooms at WL dont have refrigerators, only the villas. Unfortunately, we aren't staying in the villas. I was wondering if I could request a refrigerator in my room??? Anyone know?

You might double check that - My understanding all deluxe and moderate resorts have the dorm sized fridges! Call CRO and double check - I think the cake lady is wrong!

Are refrigerators available in the rooms?

There should be a complimentary refrigerator in the room; if there isn't, one should be available upon request.

You will have a fridge at WL but I wanted to warn you to bring Gladware or other cheap storage because the cake box will not fit into the fridge. You'll need to cut the cake into pieces to keep it cold. Found that out the hard way the first time we ordered a 10 inch!

I can't offer any real world advice - My cake experience is all from 2007 and they changed their small cakes to Sara Lee in July.
