My AP expires in February, and I know February is the typical time for price increases, so I'm starting to think about how to go about this to save the maximum number of dollars. I would LOVE if people could weigh in on this.
First and foremost, my son turns 3 when my AP expires, so he will need his first pass. I will get him a SoCal Select pass (weekdays only, max blackouts).
I am still going back and forth on my AP. I will either get another SoCal Select like I had this year, OR go all the way to a Signature to get parking included. I've gone so many times this year that I should have just gotten the signature to begin with but live and learn (need to visit about 24 times in a year to make the free parking worth it).
If I get a SoCal Select I will try to cut back on the frequency of our visits. If I get Signature, I'll go more frequently. When I go with my son we will only be able to go on weekdays but I can also do adult days on weekends either solo or with my best friend who bought a Deluxe pass last month (first AP for her ever).
For my son, I was thinking of buying him a 5-day park hopper from LMT, then using it for one or two weekend visits with me (if I go Signature) and upgrading it to an AP before it expires.
My question for this is: can I buy him an adult ticket? This will have the most value when I go to upgrade (a $50 savings, versus a kid's hopper). Would they even care if kid used an adult ticket? Can't see any reason why not since it's more expensive and not less.
After I figure his pass out, I need to figure out how to go about renewing my pass. My first thought was to get the renewal discount (if I upgrade) and also buy Disney gift cards with my Target RedCard to save an additional 5%. This saves me $50+$40= $90. I assume this is the best way but if anyone has any other ideas let me know!
