Has anyone dealt with them recently?

I am considering a pool home this summer, I always stay off property during the summer as the "Prince" pictured below is my traveling buddy. We always stay at Extended StayDeluxe studio apts which I have highly recommended on the boards BUT would like feedback regarding Mouse Pad Vacation Homes rental, I am very tempted to try something new as they will allow the dog.

Thanks all, :wizard:

We've never used them, but I'll pop your question downstairs for some more info:)

...we've often thought about taking our "Rufus the wonder dog" with us on our villa vacations, and have always requested from owners to have that option to bring him, but haven't been brave enough to do the plane thing with him - so he vacations with his "other" mama and family;)

And I get a break from scooping:teeth:

good luck, and let us know!

:sunny:

Not heard of them, but if they allow pets, then it may be worth a try, as there are not many that do. :goodvibes

Edited to say that i have just checked the website, and the two things i don't like is the fact that they give an address, but say you cannot use it for checking in, they have a few welcome centers and it could be anyone of them!!! :confused3 but doesn't tell you where they are

and

you cannot choose your own villa, you must be allocated on arrival, that would worry me, I like to see where I am staying

They emailed me some answers to questions and they did mention why this is, it makes sense really if they give the exact address out people may be doing "drive by" look see when they are going to be the next renter. Human nature but I wouldn't want anyone coming by when I'm still enjoying my vacation  :-) also more importantly for security reasons which makes sense too. They did show a map to me where the houses are all located in general and they do seem very close to Disney. I'm still debating I need opinions. Thanks Ruthie

How big is Rufus (certainly not as big as my little pony below is he? :lmao: )
Seriously if I can give you an opinion based on my years with rescue organizations and my own fur-kids. Dogs that are big and have to go in cargo with the luggage really don't do so well, in fact a show-dog was lost last year here at one of our New York airports so sad never was found. I would never take that chance. I did used to travel with one of my doxies and he fit really well under the seat in front of me in the plane, slept the whole way and it was great to have him with me on vacation. Did you ever get any info on the place I asked about. I would appreciate some help. Thanks

Their website looks ok, but it really bothers me how they have homes all over the entire WDW area and you can't even narrow it down by resort! I notice how they have "gated community" or "new home" as an upgraded option, for instance. I would consider the resort you want to stay in first, then the style / size of home, then I would CALL them and ask which homes they have available on which dates, in which resorts. They don't need to give out addresses or anything to do this. They could also tell you what kind of home it is too, for instance.

I would just be worried that you'd end up in some old home 30 mins way from WDW, in a non-gated type place, etc. At least if you know you're in a specific resort you should be "ok" hopefully.

It's good they have pet options though, I would call them and ask for some specifics on what you're looking for, in your date range and size home. Just ask where they're located, not the address, the resort, and go from there!

Good luck, please do come back and share your experiences, it's very tough to find places that take pets, so if you like your results I'm sure many here would greatly appreciate your feedback! :thumbsup2

I didn't mean the full address. I would not expect an owner to give me a full address until nearer the time, but you cannot even choose a house by name or resort.

for instance if you look at say allstar vacations or florida spirit ( I mention them as i have booked thru them previously) you can choose a home, you don't know the address, but you know what resort or community you are staying on. You could end up anywhere, with a home with very old furniture etc.

I don't know what they charge, but Florida spirit used to offer pet friendly homes. :confused3

Most owners or MCs won't give you the home's address, at least not on their website for the very same reasons, but they will certainly let you see pictures of the interior of the homes you've picked. Allstar and many others let you see the resort, AND the individual homes, this website lets you do neither, which is the part that bothers me a little bit. I guess I'd feel more comfortable if I at least knew it was in one of the newer resorts, or I could see the home to make sure it's decent before booking.

I wonder how successful they are at booking homes this way? It probably helps them book up more of the lesser well known resorts for sure!

I like how they have a "gated community" and "new home" surcharge..hehe.

How can they charge more for a gated community or a newer community? that is ridiculous.

Ruthie if I was you, I would give these a miss.

I would suggest www.cyberrentals.com or www.vrbo.com. That way you can rent direct from an owner. Most are very helpful and eager to please you. With all the competition in the rental market in Orlando, they all want to earn your business and keep you as a repeat customer.
