So of course, this is the first place I come.

I am taking a first timer on a girls-only trip. She is picking out exactly what she wants to do and I am in charge of organizing the when and how of it.

Right now she is choosing resorts. She is wondering if bus service is better/faster etc at the higher level resorts. For example, is bus service better at a moderate than a value but better again at a deluxe than a moderate. I have *no* clue on this one as our only on-site trip was to SOG.

Any thoughts on this? :confused3

We've stayed at all levels including DVC resorts We have found little difference in the buses. Of course the deluxe resorts on the monrail or in epcot have an advantage because you dont always have to take a bus. But really with a few exceptions the wait for a bus is usually 15 mins or less no matter the type of resort

I think the bus service is the same no matter what level of resort you stay at. However, most resorts share bus routes with other resorts, which makes for a longer and more crowded bus ride. AKL does not share routes with any other resort, which makes it nice. Keep in mind that CR, Poly, and GF are in the monorail loop which will zip you right to MK or TTC/Epcot. Then there are the Epcot resorts (BC, YC, Boardwalk, Swan/Dolphin) where you can walk or boat to Epcot and MGM.

Being that this is a girls-only trip, POR and POFQ have a boat that takes you to Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island, which is a nice alternative to a bus. Or if you stay over in the Epcot area, you are a walk away from the boardwalk entertainment.

Have fun....I'm sure you will!

I would think I would base it on where we were going to spend the most time...if you're going to spend most of your time at MK..then choose a monorail..if you're going to spend most of your time at Epcot then choose Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club or Yacht Club...if you're going to split your time evenly between all the parks then I'd go with a moderate or AKL/WL...hope this helps!

I agree the bus service is similar at all level resorts. The one difference is quality and location of the bus stops.

Values have one large stop for each resorts (the all stars sometimes share buses, so you could argue they have 3 stops) - these bus stops are not covered.

Moderates have covered stops - multiple stops/resort. POFQ has only one stop - but usually shares buses with POR.

Deluxes are covered and have only one stop each, but except for AKL generally share buses with other deluxe resorts.

At the parks the bus stops for deluxes are closest to the park entrance, while the value resort stops are the furthest away.

I just wanted to say - "Have a great time!" My sis and I took a girls-only trip before Christmas and we just loved it! Definitely a new experience. We split our stay between the Dolphin - heavenly beds were, well, heavenly! - and the GF - the ultimate "girls only" destination.

I have always found the bus service to be wonderful at all hotels - Poly, CBR, AKL, GF, and Dolphin. AKL is my favorite hotel and I'm really looking forward to trying WL this summer. Make sure you schedule spa treatments!

While I do agree that the bus service is probably about the same from any of the resorts, my advice would be to choose a resort where you don't always need to rely upon the bus to get you to all of the parks ~~

I would choose one of the Epcot resorts ~ Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club or Yacht Club ~ especially for a 'girls only' trip. You can very easily walk or take one of the boats to both Epcot & MGM. You really can't go wrong with one of these resorts and the location is great!!

The area also includes many restaurants, both on the Boardwalk side and the BC/YC side of the water. We like the Boardwalk Bakery in the mornings for coffee and a pastry. Beaches and Cream is a fun place for a lunch/early dinner.
