I need input on these Resorts,Please!! I need to choose 1 of these 3, only!

Hyatt Orlando-Adjacent to Disney Parks??[Does this mean in same county,or is it really close?Anyone stayed here?? is there a website?

Westgate Lakes Resort-[Anyone Ever hear of this one?? is it close to WDW say under a mile?Anyone ever stay here?website?

Douletree Orlando Resort-{ Whats the skinny on this one? is it near DD?website?ANYone ever stay at this one??

If anyone has any input Good or Bad I sure could use it?? And if its not too much to ask if you stayed here what was your best rate, code, deal??

I think I might lean more toward the name brands, unless there are really good reports on Westgate.

Hi Tink!

One way to find out the location of a hotel in relation to WDW is to visit their website and see the map they post there--they will certainly have one! For the Hyatt and Doubletree, go to their national sites and click thru until you get to their Orlando hotel. For westgate: www.westgateresorts.com/wglakes.html Keep in mind, however, that 'miles from' WDW won't really tell you how long it will take you to get there; if you have to travel the main roads and you are going during the busier seasons, even a hotel 1 mile from WDW can be a lengthy car ride with all the traffic!

We'll also better be able to help you if you can let us know the dates you are planning to travel--hotel rates vary wildly depending upon when you'll be there!

I do not know anything about the Hyatt or the Doubletree, so I can't comment on those.

This past January, we stayed at the Westgate Lakes Resort. I got our accomodations for a ridiculously low price--about $49/night for a 2 bedroom suite with full kitchen etc etc because I A. booked in the 'off' season and B. agreed to do a timeshare presentation. My kids and I loved the resort so much, I actually did buy the timeshare--even though prior to our stay I firmly believed I would NEVER buy a timeshare. Not that any of this really matters--even if we hadn't gotten the TS, I would *still* have loved Westgate Lakes as much as we did. The rooms are gorgeous, the service was always prompt, we were left totally alone (meaning, no hounding by sales reps) during our entire stay, and the sales presentation was very low-key (a BIG factor in my buying in--I hate high pressure sales). You will get some contrary opinions from other folks, but I wanted to stick my 2 cents in. If you do not do the timeshare presentation, the cost is significantly higher--I believe $150/night.

It took us about 10-15 minutes tops to drive to the WDW gates from Westgate. It was about 5-10 minutes from Universal studios. The Resort has much to offer for those days you need some downtime....I think there are 6-7 pools, and activities for the kids around each pool area everyday (they give you an activities schedule when you check in)....also at most of the pools, there is a bar with happy hour specials--$1 margaritas is what they had the night my mom and I scooted over there. One of the best features (in my family's opinion) was the Live Animal Show--we saw all manner of creatures--snakes (BIG BIG BIG SNAKES!), exotic spiders, a tiger, a lion, a panther, a leopard.....you can also have your photo taken with one of the big cats for a nominal fee. It's small and intimate and you get a chance to see these critters up close, and can even touch some of them. It excited my kids to no end!

Feel free to email me if you've got any other questions about Westgate!

I have stayed at the Hyatt Orlando, although it was years ago. A friend of mine recently stayed there. Here is a link to their website. http://orlando.hyatt.com/mcoor/

Both of us had the same feeling. It isn't bad, if you are not paying rack rate for the hotel. It is set up with 4 clusters of buildings, each of them 2 stories arranged very similar to a motel, except that they all have inside entrances. Part of the hotel borders on I-4 and some of the rooms have a lovely view across the parking lot to the freeway. It is fairly close to Disney World property, it is basically on the corner of 192 and I4 on the north east corner. It is, for the most part, across from the entrance to Celebration. The hotel really reminds me of a nicer Holiday Inn as opposed to what i would consider a Hyatt property. My friend had the same impression. It is nice if you are paying a deeply discounted rate. I would not pay 80.00 or 100.00 (or more) for these rooms, which is what they typically charge through their website. I think my friend used Priceline to get his room and paid about 50.00 per night which, he said, was about all it was worth. With all the discounts at Disney Resorts, and the moderates at 89.00 with the values at 49.00, I think I would opt for Disney, unless that isn't an option for you...

I have never stayed or seen the other 2 places you mentioned, so I have no idea about them.

I'm pretty sure the Doubletree is now the Renaissance World Gate Resort, which has been getting some pretty good reports hereabouts for great vfm and service. If the prices are about the same, I would head here first as it is probably the easiest journey into WDW and it should be a great base for your stay.

I've stayed at Westgate Lakes because I own at Westgate Villas. I loved it. Since it doesn't look like you are choosing from any accomodations in the Downtown Disney area I would probably go with Westgate. Since the area around it is somewhat undeveloped we encountered very little traffic getting to and from Disney. In addition if you stay on whatever street that is its on you can get into Disney without getting on I-4 at all (you have a choice of coming out by the Crossroads or coming in by way of the Disney Institute. However I-4 is quickest.

Westgate is on the same exit as Seaworld so if you are planning on going to more than Disney (Universal, Seaworld & Disney) its just wonderful. I actually liked it better than the Villas. You will get condominium accomodations...full kitchen, jacuzzi, big balcony, washer dryer. There are multiple pools & hot tubs, a nice deli in the spa building, and a nice affordable restaurant.

If you stay there and decide to buy I'd be happy to sell you my unit! I don't really want to sell it but the friends I own it with want to let it go. Whatever you do don't buy from them...buy resale...you'll probably save $10,000.
