DW and I are going to China this fall for 9 days. I of course am taking camera and stuff. Knowing that I will be out all day, I am seriously considering a photo or travel vest.

I think this has been discussed in a thread a while back but interested if anyone uses one and brand etc.

It will be late fall there so heat will not be an issue.

Thanks in advance for any input you may have!

I have no clue about photo/travel vests but just wanted to say WOW---China!! I'm sure that's going to be a great trip and maaaaaybe you'll even share some shots with us when you get back.....

.....still haven't seen any from that sunrise safari ;)

Hope you and DW have a great time! :thumbsup2

Not sure about the vests, but my boss and his wife went on a China tour 2 years ago. He brought back some truly stunning pictures, including a panorama he shot of Tiananmen Square. They were there in July and he said the air was so thick with pollution that it made clear shots difficult.

I hope things in the fall are better for you. Based on the shots he brought back, I am sure you will have plenty of subject matter to keep you occupied.

He did not use a vest, but primarily carried his D200 and an 18-200mm lens during the day. He did carry a lighter tripod and a longer prime (300mm I think) for some of his shots. Just used a shoulder bag.

I can give you the info for my supplier if you'd like, I have 4 vests, I use them every day and I have black for winter and khaki for warmer weather..
