We currently have a dinner reservation at 9 pm for 50s. We have been several times. We are looking at changing to Hollywood & Vine, or something else, for earlier. I'd like to get some opinions. We have had great experiences at 50s, but also a couple negative. We want to see Fantasmic, so 9 pm is cutting that out for now.

Any help :thumbsup2 is appreciated!

H&V and PrimeTime share the same kitchen, but IMHO H&V's food is far superior to Primetime. Remember H&V is a character buffet, something to be aware of.

H & V messed up my stomach so bad we had to leave and miss Fantasmic. It's the only TS in two trips to Disney that did that. So maybe I am biased. Never had 50's but will next month. No characters at H & V dinner though.

Thanks Daggett and Eventer98 for the quick responses.

Anyone else have an opinion out there???

After everything you said i would say H&V. The food was ok when we ate there a couple years ago. We had a better meal at Prime Time. But to be honest ,as we all know, we could go again and that could flip.
So I would go with the earlier time, see the show and enjoy a new restaurant that you haven't eaten at before!:)

We love 50 PT.

We have done Fantasmic dinner pkg at H&V for the first Fantasmic show.

If there are 2 Famtasmic shows - then a 9 PM dinner at 50 PT will be fine to get into a 2nd show of Fantasmic.

The first Fantasmic show starts around 8:45 PM. The scond shpw does not start til around 10:15 PM.

If it were me I would go with H&V. You've been to 50s before and since going there this time will preclude you from seeing Fantasmic, and you want to see that, it seems like a no-brainer to me.

Or, you can keep calling and try to get an earlier ADR for 50s.

Actually, when the showings are depends on when you are going. We are going the week before Christmas and the WDW Website is showing two Fantasmic! showings each night we will be there - one at 6:30pm and the other at 8:00pm (except for 8:30pm on the night the park is open until 10pm).

The character buffet is for breakfast and lunch only, not dinner.

I have gone to both and I like the food at both. It all depends on what you want, do you want a sit down meal and be waited on or do you want a buffet?
We liked the buffet at H&V, the selection is great, the food was nice and hot and we had great service.

Or take the boat over and dine on the Boardwalk when you please and return to MGM. :)

Hollywood and Vine dinner was one of the few restaurants in Disney that we absolutely hated (the other one was Tony's). I would definitely go with 50's Prime Time Cafe - good food and the servers can be a hoot!

We did not like Hollywood & Vine at all the last time we ate there. They ran out of food and took forever to replace, some of it was cold and the service was terrible. If you want to do Fanstasmic package, you could try to get an ADR at Mama Melrose...we thought the food very good.

We were at Prime Time on 8/18, and tho I haven't posted the review yet, my opinion is that it has gone way down from a few years ago when we first visited. The Pot Roast, which had a starring role, was stringy and fatty. For the previous 3 trips, however, we've enjoyed H&V and used that one for the Fantasmic Package. I would take it and enjoy! the dessert bar as well as the buffet selection ( as of last fall) was better, IMHO, than some of the other buffets on property (CM and CP).
Enjoy!
