A good friend of mine has been forced to sell her house and downsize to a very small home. She wanted to have a garage sale to sell as much as she could. She never had one and I offered to help her out. She has a disabled daughter and it's just the two of them and she can't really get around much herself either. I have put a considerable amount of time helping her which I am more than happy to do, probably close to 20 hours.
Here's my problem---last night after I had been there for more than 6 hours busting my behind, in walks one of her friends. She immediately begins to critize what was being done, began just shoving items from boxes anywhere, and then plopped herself down and watched while I worked for another 2 hours never offering to help but offering up lots of "her suggestions." I just spent another 3 plus hours there today. She comes over and immediately starts giving me attitude about the prices of things (my girlfriend asked me to price everything cuz she has no clue at all). Honestly, I was getting a little fed up with her but I just tried to let it roll off my shoulders.
Then she asked why two tables were still empty. I explained that my girlfriend said she did not mind if my daughter brought over a few of her Disney items to sell and a few items I had. I don't have a lot but there are things I could take. Keep in my mind, my DD is 18 and "both" of us will be there from the time the garage sales open til it shuts both days helping out! I got this most "nasty and appalling" look as her mouth just dropped open!!!!
Am I wrong to take anything over there? My girlfriend made the "offer" to me after a discussion when I said I wish I had sold more stuff last year and my DD had a few things she wished she had sold. Honestly, I am so upset at the whole situation right now, I don't even want to help any more. She made me feel like I had absolutely no right and I was being rude! More like "who the **** did I think I was!
What do you think--am I making more out of this than I should? Should I just ignore her nasty comments/looks? Or should I just make it easier on myself and leave my stuff home? I'm don't know what to do right now!
