Need opinion on our future sons name...

Trust me, the M thing really has me in a bind. I personally don't think we need an M name (actually I'd prefer not to!) but Dh really wants one.

As far as Miles - Our neighbors dog is named Miles, and Mitch is an uncle of mine, and it just reminds me of an older man. (does that make sense?)

Yep, I just made the leap that you were looking for an M name since I know lots of folks that have done the same 1st letter thing and you do have that trend going.

No need to continue it if you don't want to though.

Find a name that you love, whether it be Miller or something else. I'm sure it will fit your little guy.

I agree with the others that Miller may not be the best name for a young boy. I vote for Mason.... but I guess I am partial as that is DH's name...and his dad's too. I do understand the last name thing as the last three letters of DH's first and last name are the same.

DH and I are at odds as to what to name our new baby boy. Hi top name to choose is Miller...which I'm not too sure about. (I don't want him to be labled into the frat boy that supplies the keg before he's even born!) Any thoughts to this name? We don't mind unusual names, but I think that might be too unusual. How about Chris Matthews? Al Michaels? Tommy John? Marc Anthony? Warren Christopher. All very common first names that can also be last names.

Mookie, I don't associate Miller with beer but I don't drink alcohal. I'm beginning to think it is adults that stigmatize children for their names, not other children.

I don't usually don't like last names used as first names, but this one doesn't totally turn me off either! Trust me, I am a preschool teacher and I have heard some awful names, but this one isn't bad at all! Don't know if this helps or not.....good luck!

I have a boy in my religion class that I teach..his name is Mikhail and he goes by Mik. Fits him real well...real nice kid...this could be a nice nickname for Michael or Micah or any of those variations.

Personally, I don't like keeping with the "M" theme. I know that lots of people do like that, though. I do not like Miller--besides sounding like a beer it also sounds like a last name. Also, I just don't like it, but you'll never find a name that everyone agrees to. Good luck!

My brother named his youngest daughter Leila. We all (privately) gagged but 6 years later I have to say, the name really fits her. She is a beautiful sweet little flower and I can't imagine her with any other name.

Gotta say I'm partial to Michael and Mark - of course, I have two! I will say you are better sticking with the M theme. My middle son is Daniel and it is a constant complaint of his that he isn't a Matthew or Max. He was second so it wasn't known that there'd be a Michael; he was supposed to be a she afterall, lol.

Yes it's a common practice in the south to name your child a mothers or grandmothers maiden name. It's also common practice to give a girl 2 first names.

I like the names of Miles. I also like the name Maddox and Marshell.

I know a Miller.........NEVER !!!! He gets teased all the time!!! He goes to school with my daughters.........the jocks tease him call him the"Miller Man"
now that he's in college it's gotten worse. Recently I heard one of my daughters refer to her friend "Mills" that's how he intrudes himself now.....think harder and you will find some great names
