Hi everyone,
How many of you feel the the disney transportation from
All Stars Music is ok and can live without a rental car? The best price I have found at the car center is 188. compact for 6 days. I have only used the buses on one trip years ago. We have ME from and to MCO. All my ADR's are in the parks except for Kona. We are going in August 14-20.

We like the rental car for the waterparks and for nightime parks. The bus is slow after night events, fantasmic ect. When you take a break and come back at 5pm you can drive to the front of the parks. Easy out.

In the morning we use the bus back and forth. Always use the bus for MK

Rental Car is the only way for us. Truthfully, you've paid mucho $$$ for your vacation, why not get the most out of it? Especially if you plan on doing any ADR's at Resort restaurants, it can be a major time saver.....

Since you have only one ADR at a hotel you should be fine with the buses. Just remember the night time buses are the worst after leaving the parks with the mad rush. Do yourself a favor and hang around the park till the mad rush to exit is over and you should be fine.

I agree, just make sure you do it the right way and not the way my mother-in-law did it.

MK, Wishes ended, she suggested we hang out rather than fight the crowds. I thought that was a wise and good idea, her first of the trip! So we waited at benches near Main Street, on the path that goes towards Crystal Palace, just relaxing and enjoying ourselves hanging out and soaking in the atmosphere.

Well, we waited about 10 minutes and there were still throngs of people streaming by us -- the traffic on Main Street looked as thick as ever. My MIL then says, "Okay, let's go." We told her that leaving NOW defeted the purpose, that we were not leaving AFTER the crowd, that all we accomplished was letting 20,000 people go ahead of us while we still had to deal with walking with a huge crowd out of the park and then the inevitable LOOONG bus line. She just didn't get it.

For what it's worth, I have to imagine that if there are long bus lines (after fireworks) there are also long lines for the ferry and the monorail, and I can't imagine that there is no traffic trying to get out of the parking lot.

I'm not a big fan of mass transit but we've been happy with WDW transportation on all of our visits and I actually think the AllStar service is the best, we spent two 7 day stays at Music and 2 separate days at Sports. I can see the value of a rental for the waterparks but we've driven to DTD/PI at night and then couldn't get a parking space. It was the evening of New Year's Day, 1/1/05, but it just shows that the lots CAN fill.

In general, if you factor the trolly ride to the lot, after waiting for the trolly, then the actual drive while many others are doing the same thing, I doubt if there's a time savings there over waitnig for a bus. Here's my favorite tip, stay at an Epcot resort and you can walk to half the WDW parks, MGM & Epcot, as well as BoardWalk, and you'll only need the bus for AK and MK.
