You know you really shouldn't "wash down" popcorn with a drink. Be sure you chew it sufficiently to go down by itself. :stir:

I agree with MJMcBride. Or you do the "Barney Fife" thing and hang her in a chin strap from the top of a door frame for a few days! :rotfl2:

Think about it..................... If ONE INCH could mean life or death for ANY rider, I don't think that ride would be around long enough to even make it to a park! Remember, she is talking about an INCH or LESS....... It is not like she is trying to pass her for 6" taller than she is!! I don't think there is a need to jump on the OP for this!

That's what I was thinking, an inch isn't that much difference, and if it did, it wouldn't be a ride even I would be riding. Luckily, when my extended family went down to Disney, we were all tall enough to be able to ride anything, but my family's always ran on the tall side. I think the shortest person is 5'6, and most of us are over 6' so hight was never an issue.

So, are rides mostly 40" or 42"? My one daughter is 43" and the other is 40" I think.....

I know I won't let my taller daughter ride anything that my shorter daughter can't ride. As twins, my older, yet shorter daughter seems to have a hard time dealing with being the "little" twin.

I don't understand this. Because your younger daughter feels bad being short, you are now going to make your older daughter feel bad for being tall?
If the thrill rides are that important, why not wait until they both are tall enough to ride to go?

We just took my 3 year old niece a few weeks ago and the CM's never measured her for any rides.

I don't think any 39" child is subject to death and dismemberment on Soarin', or Splash Mountain, or Test Track...ok, maybe Test Track since we didn't bring our car seat with us. ;) (Though we typically don't use it in the car, either. Two phonebooks and a shoulder strap are FINE...car seats, pfft...just The Man tryin' shake down hard workin' parents for more money!)

That said, on our most recent trip our youngest measured up to 40 1/2" at home against the wall with no shoes. We figured no problems once we got there...WRONG. Apparently inches in Ohio are slightly smaller than those in FLA as we went to get on Soarin' and got the Nazi-Measurement lady who was sliding a fingernail between my son's head and the bar. No riding Soarin'. (Though he'd passed Test Track already, so consistency isn't high on the measuring thing.)

No problem, rules are rules, don't throw a fit. Instead, walk outside, get four park maps, fold two each into said son's shoes, and Voila! he's on everything. He got measured plenty, and by the end of the week would just walk up, hit his head on the bar, and smile at the CM.

Was that 16th of an inch the difference between life and death? No. Was it bending the rules? Oh yeah! :) But here's my lame rationale: Cost as much to get him in as it did my older son who can ride everything. (Told you it was lame...yet financially responsible. ;) )

How did she enjoy Rock n' roller coaster?

Maybe now is the time to get her to eat all of her vegetables so she can grow that last inch before going to Disney :)

You are so right. I guess I didn't think...Oh hold on I'll be right back

Sorry, I am back now. I had given her some scissors to run with and I wanted to get them back real quick. She is so cute though I just hate to not let her do that.

:rotfl: We would get along great!

Although not at Disney. Our DS is 9 and just measured this morning, he is 53 1/2 inches in his shoes. While he makes all the height requirements at Disney, he's been living to ride Hulk and Dueling Dragons and Kraken which I believe all have a requirement of 54 inches. We arrive in Florida on December 16th so he only has 5 1/2 weeks to grow. I told him that he might be able to ride and he might not be able to ride and to be prepared if he doesn't hit the 54 inch mark. He told me he would be disappointed. While we really want him to be able to enjoy these rides with us, my husband is adamant that he make the mark in his normal shoes with no extra "measures" involved. I have to believe though that these theme parks most likely have some nice cushion room built in with the requirements they set just to be on the safe side. Having said that, I do think that Disney is VERY strict with their marks. Much more so than the Universal parks so maybe he'll make it after all. Our first trip, DS was 2 and we've been growing with those marks ever since. I remember one year he was 38 1/2 inches and WAY under the 40" mark for TOT. That same week he made the 40" requirement for Spiderman at Islands of Adventure. Guess we'll see what happens. Can't wait!!!

My dd is 4 and is still too short for the 40" rides at Disney. At her 4 year check up in Sept. she measured 39 1/2 at the dr's office. We went over to Soarin' a couple of weeks ago and her head just hit the 40" bar mark.....but the CM could squeeze a finger between the bar and her head....so it was a no-go. They seems to be really stringent at Soarin'....even though they have the between-the-legs belt for the kids. I also think some of the 40" markers at Disney are a little inaccurate.....they are more than 40". I think by Feb 2007 my dd will be able to ride the 40" rides and I know she will be so excited!

In my experience the CM's were very strict about measuring. They measure to the head not the ponytail and without the hat. I have personally seen CM's ask for obviously high shoes to be removed, both girls and boys!

My nephew was about 41" without shoes during our recent, early October trip. Let me say he was measured carefully at every single 40" ride, at the entrance and again at boarding. I have also seen a few boarderline kids make it past the entrance without a measure only to be turned away at boarding.

The best advice I can give is to remind your child that the they do want to hit the stick, some naturally shrink away from it. Have them take a deep breath and stretch out without tippy toeing. Its an upside down L and the CM will try and slide it over the childs head. If the childs head stops it from moving they are tall enough, otherwise they won't be able to ride, no exceptions.

I know its difficult, we have been to WDW with a dd at just the 40" mark and it was hit or miss depending on the day and the CM and another trip with a just about 48" dd :(.

Hopefully your child will sprout enough prior to the trip!!

I think you missed that they were twins, not older and younger but taller and shorter.

I think it fair that in this case they take a wonderful trip to WDW and only ride what the entire family can ride.

Honestly, when you think of the many attractions at WDW only a very small % are height restricted. There is much to enjoy as a family even without them.

Am I the only one who thought she was talking about something else when I read the title of this post??

:rolleyes1

Last Fall, we watched DD's height daily. She's tall for her age, and adventurous. I was having all the "will I be a bad mommy if I put her in stacks (high shoes)?" thoughts. She popped out that last inch in the last month and was EXACTLY 40" when we went. She was measured every time at every ride. She wore a poney tail (more for keeping her hair out her eyes than height) and no one made her take it out. Also no one made her take off her shoes.
