We have one more ADR to make for our October trip. At this point in our trip we will have DS12, DD6 and DS3 with us (DS15 won't be there yet). It's on our AK day and we won't have park hoppers, so we'll need it to either be a place in AK or a resort or DTD.

So far we have booked:

Le Cellier
Crystal Palace dinner
Akershus breakfast
1900 Park Fare dinner
Chef Mickeys dinner
50's Prime Time
Mama Melrose Fantasmic Pkg

I tried Ohana, but the earliest we could get was 8:05pm, which is way too late for DS3. Any other suggestions?

I believe there is only one sit down place at AK, other than Rainforest Cafe. I can't remember the name of the place though. It was brand new when we were there back in November.

We really enjoyed Boma at AK Lodge. It's a buffet and it is African themed, but there are plenty of things to choose from whether you have adventurous or not so adventurous tastes. And just being able to see the AK Lodge made it worth it for me.

Boma IS fantastic, I loved it. Plenty of selection! But if you're wanting to eat IN the Animal Kingdom instead of going over to the AK lodge, there's Yak & Yeti or Tusker House. If you're open to an AK breakfast, they have a character breakfast at Tusker House with Donald & friends. I just booked that myself for 10:30 AM, which I think is the latest breakfast seating.

It's a good ways from AK, but your kids might like the Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge.

On our AK day (we also don't have park hoppers) we have decided since AK closes so early we will just take a shuttle over to the Wilderness Lodge and go to Whispering Canyon Cafe. Our kids would NOT enjoy Boma - a little to exotic for them. Although dh and I would like to try Boma, this is a family vacation and I do my best to appease everyone for our trip. DH and I can go when we do a trip minus kids.

We found the menu at WCC to be a good variety for our family, plus the "antics" should help amuse the adults and the kids while we wait.

We really like the AK character breakfast - it was my husband's favorite meal last trip. We've tried Boma, but weren't fond of it (too exotic for us). Have you thought about booking something near the Boardwalk - that can be really fun in the evenings.

We're doing the HDDR on our AK day :) I really strongly considered Boma though, I think I would have enjoyed it.

I think the Hoop Dee Doo Review is a great idea for your family. It is a Western themed show full of singing, dancing and corny jokes. I think it will appeal to everyone in your party. The food is good "Down Home" cooking, fried chicken, ribs, corn, salad etc and the show is lots of fun.
I would not take your entire family to Jiko. I think as a Signature Restaurant it is more adult oriented. The last night we were there, there were no children in the restaurant at all. I was surprised. It was a quiet, romantic evening for DH and I.
Have a Great Trip

Hoop De Doo is great if you want to use 2 TS dining credits (we are!!!). However, if you do NOT want to use those credits, I would suggest either WCC or Yak & Yeti (we are doing Y&Y for lunch on our AK day and then HDDR for dinner w/DD6.5)

Boma or Jiko! Some people say Boma is too exotic, but I don't understand why they would say that because in addition to all of the "African" food they also have your standards for people who don't care for that sort of stuff. Really good!

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing and then I was thinking that maybe I was remembering it wrong. But I went and looked at the menu again. And I remembered correctly, they have chicken and prime rib on the carving stations. Nothing exotic about those. And I also remember some "not exotic" salads and potatoes too.

ok, here are my suggestions:

either RFC at AK

or Narcoosees/Grand Floridian Cafe at GF

or Wave at CR

or Cap'n Jacks/RFC at DTD

(me, i'd go with Narcoosees - crab cakes, lobster, almond crusted cheesecake!!! )

On our AK day we had an ADR for Tusker House but cancelled because 1/2 or our group wanted to go back and swim for a while. Instead of going back to AK we ended up going to DTD and had dinner at Raglan Road. It was great :thumbsup2
They also had live music.

We loved Whispering Canyon Cafe on our last trip and I've always wanted to try Boma. I think I would pick one of these if you can get an early enough ADR. And what about Chef Mickey's?

Can you believe we still haven't figured out where to go? :)

We did Whispering Canyon on our last trip. It was okay, but not great enough that we'd want to go back this trip if we can try something new. I'm a little iffy about Boma (although I would LOVE it) because even though my kids and DH are not picky, they are not very adventerous eaters, and since we are paying OOP, I don't want to waste money if they aren't going to eat. :(

DH thinks we should just go back to the villa and order pizza this night. I say "Boring!".

I thought about Cape May since DH is a huge seafood fan. Any other ideas?

How about Beaches N Cream at the BC? Or one of the Boardwalk area restaurants? Spoodles, ESPN, Big River Grille, Flying Fish

Depending on the night, maybe you'd even run into some entertainers after dinner on the boardwalk.
