Let me start by saying this is our first trip to WDW as a family and I personally haven't been since I was probably 14 y/o or so, almost 20 years ago. We are going in April 07 and I am so excited!!! Admittedly, I am planning way in advance but do want to be prepared to cal in our ADRs next month. I am having a hard time narrowing my selections down. We have 2 DSs, in April they will be almost 3 and the other will be 15 months. Currently we have the following on our radar:
1900 Park Fare
Crystal Palace
Coral Reef
Teppanyaki
Chef Mickey's and
Le Cellier

I need one more dinner reservation and wondering what you guys and gals recommend. So let me hear it - what are you favorites and why? Keep in mind DH and oldest DS are not adventurous eaters (youngest is still on baby food). I am also interested in learning about the restaurants that have special things for children, like the painter's palette desserts and such.

TIA!!!!

How about Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge? It's a fun place for families, and I believe there is an option for family style dining (at least there was at one point in time).

In addition to a good meal, it will give you a chance to see an incredible Disney Resort that is worthy of a vacation in itself. :smokin:

Not sure if you plan to spend any time at Disney Studios, but I don't see that you've made a dining choice for that park. How about Sci-Fi Diner? It's great for first timers - the restaurant is really very well themed. Y'all might get a kick out of 'eating in the car'. The food there is similar to the fare you might get at Bennigans or Chili's. We usually get burgers. The shakes are very tasty. And, it's fun watching the sci-fi clips (I don't think they would be too scary for your young'ins).

Liberty Tree Tavern has a family-style dinner and great characters.

We are trying O'hanas in Jan. and it looks fun.

Yep - we are doing Hollywood and Vine for the JoJo/Little Einstein breakfast one morning. My DH may like the Sci Fi thing - I will check that one out. Also, what do you guys think of LTT? I am thinking my DH would like that b/c it is home cooking kind of food.

TIA

We really like LTT for lunch and the character dinner is fun, too. The food at dinner isn't the best, tho..

I would suggest Spoodles for your family. The Boardwalk is a fun place to visit. It's a short walk from Epcot and you can always take the boat back if you're too full to walk.

Spoodles is a good choice. Lots of boardwalk activities.

Kona Cafe or Ohana. Since you will have tried Chef Mickey's at Contemporary and 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian. Why not make your Monorail resort trip complete!

I'd say for a dinner at MGM, do Sci Fi theater....we LOVED eating in the car. Very cool!

I'd also recommend Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. I thought the food was really good :confused3 . They served corn bread, salad, hot turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, etc. There was more than enough to eat and I thought it was good and I consider myself a pretty picky eater.

I'd reconsider Teppanyaki. We ate there before and didn't think it was anything great. I'm not sure if you have a Banzai or a chinese restaurant nearby that does "show cooking" but I thought our local one in NJ was better than Disneys.

You might also want to consider Whispering Canyon. I've been hearing great reviews on this and hear they do a lot of fun activities for the kids that I bet your 3 y/o would enjoy!

So many good suggestions in this thread! We also loved Mama Melrose, Liberty Tree Tavern and 'Ohana. We liked LTT better than Chef Mickey's, but both were good. LTT is served family-style which may be easier than a buffet line with kids. Dinner at LTT is a character meal and the characters dress up in their revolutionary-style clothing. 'Ohana has fun games for the kids to particpate in during dinner. Mama Melrose was just a nice, cozy place with good Italian food! YUM! Another fun place for kids is Rainforest Cafe at DTD or AK.

Am I the only one that hated the cars at Sci-Fi?? :confused3 I just couldn't get into eating on a 12" darkened shelf, while looking at the back of DD's head.

What about 50's Prime Time Cafe. We have a great time here and love the homecooking comfort food! :sunny:

Haha! I do see your point of view, but I guess it was fun for our first time. We probably wouldn't go back for a while because we like trying new places every time we go.

I agree with Spoodles. We tried it for the first time this year and loved it. It was nice to be able to walk there from Epcot. I will definitely go back!
