I'm working my way through the DVC resorts :goodvibes . My first trip home was to SSR in Jan. (my home resort). I'll be at BWV in Oct. and I just booked a 2BR at OKW for Jan.

I'd like to be in a unit near a pool and also near the main (?) building where the store and snack bar is. Can anyone suggest an area I should request?

Also, I read they have a sand volleyball court. Does that get busy?

How are the units there?

Thanks!
Terri

On our May trip, we requested a unit "near Hospitality House." We got Bldg 26, which was just across the bridge from HH and an easy walk to everything.

OTOH, if you want to be near one of the "quiet" pools, you can look at this map and figure out where you want to be: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/okwmap.jpg

The units at OKW are wonderful! You may want to take some string or breadcrumbs to lay out to help you find your way around the two-bedroom. Also, build time into your schedule for the travel time between the master bedroom and living room. ;)

If you request a room near the Hospitality House, that will put you near all the main things at OKW, including the feature pool.

I can't remember ever seeing anyone using the sand volleyball court. I'm sure it gets used, but I would never say it's ever really 'busy'. For a trip in January, you shouldn't have any problem.

BTW, once you experience the spaciousness of the 2-B/R villa at OKW, you'll be totally spoiled. :teeth:

The dilemma is "near A pool" or near MAIN pool. I prefer the quiet pools, but remember that all units are just a quick busride away from the HH area if you end up near a quiet pool. If you need a second door to the main bathroom from the living room, you should request building 30 or higher. If you don't have anyone using the pull out in the living room, then just ask for near HH, and you should be fine. We NEVER request that, but that's the location we usually have.

you know I have never seem anyone on the volleyball court either.... maybe because it is right next to the children's playground?

I have definitely seem guests at the BC one.... :confused3

love OKW!!!

but I just don't like to be to near the HH. It is the busiest place around. So you have to actually watch the traffic before you cross the street. :guilty:

boy we get spoiled quick.

Thanks for the replies. One other question (which may be a dumb one). In looking at the map (thanks Jim!) what are the gray areas? I can tell the golf course and the road, but not sure what the gray is.

Terri

The grey shaded areas represent water...ponds or canals...GREAT to have those views! By the way, I am another who prefers to be AWAY from the HH. Love the Southpoint area at the back of OKW for its proximity to Downtown Disney and the spa at Saratoga, walking paths, golf course, PEACEFUL!

And that South Point quiet pool is a favorite of ours in January too. It just seems to be more peaceful than the others. It is our favorite area too. If you don't want to take the 7 minute walk to HH, just hop on any bus, and you will be delivered to HH before they leave the resort. It will take longer to take the bus than it will to walk though.
