We've added 3 nights to our trip, but are unable to rent more DVC points [no resort has 3 nights in a row!] so I am needing to find us a place to stay. I have booked the 3 nights at POFQ, but am not loving the price. Over $500 for 3 nights! Yikes!:scared1: I'm only paying $1300 for 10 nights with our DVC rental...makes it kind of hard to go back, KWIM? Add in that we are not going to WDW for the 1st couple of days, and it gets even tougher to swallow.

So, looks like we will be venturing offsite for the 1st time. =We are going to Legoland, but will drive a bit so we can hit Downtown Disney for dinner and to have a "nicer" hotel than what appears to be available in Winter Haven.

Soooo....what hotel should I pick? I'm finding some good rates at the Fairfield in Marriott Village and Holiday Inn Resort Lake Buena Vista. Opinions? Other options that I should consider? There are 3 of us, including DS6. We tend to have champagne tastes, and will be a bit more to make sure its a great stay, but really think I ought to be able to find a perfect place for quite a bit less than $500. We are not really up for times share pitch pressures......I know the ideal hotel is out there, so I'm asking for help from those of you in the know....TIA!

I don't know what you are looking for , exactly, but my absolute favorite is the Hard Rock Hotel , on Universal property. I've been looking at the prices for August , not too bad, comparable to Disney, but nicer accommodations.
Great atmosphere, awesome pool.
We love it!

Other than that, we have been staying on property.

We also use Priceline to bid on 3 star hotels, when we are more budget oriented.

The Holiday Inn you mentioned is a good pick. There is also a Hilton there and a Wydham. All are within a couple minutes walk to DTD and reasonably priced.

you can be closer to legoland and still kinda of close to WDW - try Davenport - you only want the hotels on US 27 in Davenport - south of I4 - okay a little north is okay too.

Oh, Fairfield Inn > Holiday Inn in Orlando.

IF you're wanting to stay closer to Legoland, try the Hampton Inn in Lake Wales. Its less than 10 min drive to Legoland, and is a newer hotel. It would be comparable to the Fairfield Inn and Holiday Inn in Orlando.

I love Radisson Celebration Resort. This October is going to be my second time staying there. It's beautiful and has a pretty good shuttle service to the Dis parks, Universal, and Seaworld. Not sure how close it is to Legoland.
