Hi everyone. I think we are going to try to slip in a quick trip to DL as well as some other offsite things. I haven't been in the area since 2000 so I'm in need of hotel ideas. I would like to have something that is in walking distance with a pool and reasonably priced.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Lori

We like the candy cane inn (www.candycaneinn.net). We have also stayed at the Fairfield and thought it was ok. Its the same price as the CCI and doesnt offer the breakfast or shuttle.

We usually stay on-site. But when we can't the Candy Cane is where we stay too. The pool is nice, the continental breakfast is nice, you can hop on the shuttle regularly or walk if you choose. The beds are comfortable also.

I agree with the last two posts, there are lots of perfectly fine hotels/motels within walking distance but the Candy Cane is the best of the bunch IMO. :sunny:

Thanks so much for the great posts everyone. I have bookmarked the two links for all the hotels. I would have loved to stay at the Candy Cane but they don't have availability. I'm sure IU can figure something out with this great advice though.

Thanks again,
Lori

Hojo's (howard johnson) is a popular choice. It's about 10-15 min walk. I've stayed at the fairfield inn and was happy with it. Fairfield is one hotel closer to Disneyland then Hojo's. You might take a look at trip advisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g29092-Anaheim_California-Hotels.html for reviews of hotels in the area. I recomend reading through the reviews. Take a look at the bad reviews and see if they are things you can live with. Sometimes people complain about things that other people wouldn't care about. YOu have to keep in mind, when in the area, that the hotels are all old. Many have been remodeled or redecorated but that doesnt change the fact they are old motels. Many of them are nothing more then a nice clean bed and shower.

Another vote for Hojo.

We stayed there in December 04 and found the walk very manageable - took us no more than 10 minutes which even 2 tired kids at the end of a long day found quite manageable.

Nice hotel, good price, great staff, big rooms and a great pool. No dining but good meals available across the road at Mimi's.

www.tripadvisor.com rates HoJo and Candy Cane as the best 2 non Disney properties in Anaheim (they rate 3rd and 2nd behind Disney Grand California).

One more vote for the HoJo. We stay there every July including our honeymoon this past April. We love it!

Here's another vote for the Park Place Inn. It's directly across the street from the main gate. We've also gotten great deals on the Del Sol which is very close. Sometimes the Del Sol is a little noisy (we bring a white noise machine) and during the busy season we've had things like a broken lamp that needed to be taken care of, but for both of these places, we've enjoyed the pool, there's a basic continental breakfast to get you out the door in the morning, and they are so close when you're ready to walk home at night.

I wanted to stay nearby on my last trip, but my greedy nature took over and I ended up at the Doubletree for about $50 per night on Priceline. I had to take a shuttle which was on a very strict schedule (once an hour there and back) and it took about 15 minutes to get to/from the hotel and DL. BUT ... the shuttle was always on time, the staff was always friendly and my room was very comfortable. My DD enjoyed the pool and I kept warm in the hot tub (it was October). I was afraid that I was going to hate the Doubletree, but I ended up really liking it. Especially for the price!

We stayed at both the Hojo and the Candy Cane Inn on our very recent trip (just got back today) and we preferred the Candy Cane by far! Although it is not a Disney Hotel, it has a much more Disney-feel due to its intimate setting. We loved it!

You might try Camelot Inn. Right across the street. Near just about all the restraunts. Nice pool to watch the fireworks from. :thumbsup2

My vote is for the Best Western Anaheim Inn. Stayed there last December. Good, clean rooms right across the street from the Harbor ped-xing. Next to Denny's too, for vittle runs.

Mine, too unless we bid Priceline to save money. The location can't be beat. It's closer than the DL hotel and PPH in my opinion.

Americas best inns on Ball road has a shuttle right outside the door which takes you directly to the park. Its not very far at all and the prices are REALLY DECENT! Its like $50-60 a night, the rooms are clean and the service is really good. :) Hope that helps
