We have been to Disney 5 times in the last 6 yrs, in November, December, and January. We DO NOT like super hot weather, so winter works great.... Except we rarely get to swim. Now that the kids are older, they're asking to do some of the water parks, and even just the pool at the hotel.

Soooo.... I'm thinking about October. Maybe the end of October would be more bearable heat-wise, but also allow us to swim? Any input?

Weather-wise you'd be in for a treat, in my opinion. However it depends on your perspective of "hot" and "warm enough to swim". Two trips ago, being in the pool prompted my kids to create our "it's chilly, Its Chilly, ITS CHILLY, but it's not for dinner!" song. I.e. Warm enough to get in the pool, but you wanted to be swimming hard and not getting in/out from chilly air to lightly heated pool. Last year, it rained two days on us mid-October but the sunny days were perfect! Not sweltering, yet very enjoyable for swimming. Of course, Florida weather is unpredictable, but at "normal" weather patterns it's a great choice for regular parks + swimming!

We're going October 21-30 this year, and the weather is supposed to be gorgeous that time of year! Averages are a high of 80 and low of 70 I believe, and it's a pretty low time of year for rain. We previously went in February and it was mid-60s and one day was 70 but it was a little chilly at times and definitely too cold to swim. This time we'll be planning on swimming and even doing one of the water parks.

We have been in October twice...the first time was comfortably cool..80's...perfect! second time in October...HOT as heck! 90's plus humidity! so either way you can't go too wrong as far as wanting to go swimming at the water parks...GO FOR IT! and HAVE FUN! (don't forget LOTS of sun screen!)

We think swimming during our daily mid-day break is fine temp wise, but evening swimming was too cold for us in Oct.

We went last Oct (22-26) and weather was gorgeous-little chilly in the morning (60 ish) and later at night but during the day it was low 80s-much more pleasant weather than our recent may trip (mid 90s every day)

The end of October should be fine. I often go the first of November and, as PPs have said, its chilly in the early mornings but warms up well after noon. Perhaps check some of the online historical temp charts for Orlando? That should give you a good idea of what to expect.

Thanks for all the replies. We have snuck in a swim day here and there in December... And then been in hats and gloves on the same trip, so I realize you never know!

Just trying to hit that sweet spot between super hot and chilly.

Also... Do the Columbus Day crowds affect that whole week? Or more just the 3 day weekend?

Check the crowd calendars on esywdw for a good idea of crowds. I think temp perception depends on the person. Where you live has a big impact. We live in North Carolina, so Florida isn't that hot to us. It's all what you are used to!

Was there last year from Oct 24 to Oct 30th and weather was perfect for parks and or swimming every day.
