We are planning on going to WDW next Nov. What week would you recommend to go? The beginning or mid Nov. or the weekend right after Thanksgiving?

It will be more crowded and more expensive Thanksgiving week. Earlier in the month is my suggestion.

I would go the week right after Thanksgiving - gorgeous Christmas decorations - lots of fun Christmas shows and entertainment. Also, there's special parades and things. :sunny:

I did quite a bit of research, thinking, and asking questions about this very thing. We will be leaving for Disney the day after Thanksgiving and will stay until the following Friday. We chose that week because every book I've read, and even the person I spoke to on the Disney Planning number said it's one of the slowest and prettiest weeks. If you go the week of Thanksgiving, it's insane. Earlier in November is the Super Soaps Weekend (a bunch of soap opera stars and TONS of fans are there....I think they even shut down some things at MGM for it) which is pretty crazy, too. Also, in November, Epcot has that Food and Wine festival thingie, too.

Oh, trust me, we are definitely avoiding Thanksgiving week. We originally planned on arriving the Sat. right after Thanksgiving and staying for 1 week, but it seems that that time period is becoming more and more popular so I was curious what others thought about the period before Thanksgiving.

This is our 3rd year of going the week after Thanksgiving and I am also already booked for 2006 for the same time. We just love that week and even though its becoming a tad more popular the crowds aren't bad. There is so many extra things to do with the Christmas decorations and such that people are spread out more and not all waiting to ride Splash Mountain to cool off from the heat.

I am finding the week beginning Sat the 11th will be after Jersey Week, Soap Weekend and Wine Festival, but before the Thanksgiving price increase. It looks like the week that will work best for us.

This year and last year we found low crowds the week before
Thanksgiving week. This year we visited the parks on the 13th, 14th and 15th. On Sunday, Soarin and TT needed FP, but other rides a walk on. On Monday afternoon, the standby wait for TOT and RnR was only 10 minutes each. Tuesday at MK was a bit more busy, but only used FP for BTMRR. I think Splash was 10 min standby, and many FP machines were not in use.

Some Christamas decorations were up, and AK and MGM both started their holiday parades this week, as well as Osborne lights.

We were there this year Nov 1 - 6 and the crowds were minimal. Tuesday we walked right on RNR, Wed TL was basically empty in the morning and Thursday we walked right on SM and rode all by ourselves. By Saturday crowds seemed to pick up at Epcot for FWF but the week itself was fantastic. We are probably heading back the same week next year.

We are taking our first Disney cruise next year 11/12-11/16. We were going to go to WDW for a few days prior to the cruise but w/all the posts I've seen about high crowd levels that week (Jersey week, F&W Fest, Veteran's Day), we are now going to do a few days after our cruise. Hopefully the parks will be a bit slower right before the Thanksgiving week madness. ;)

when is Jersey week in 2006. We were there this year and want to avoid it next year. We'll either go the week before or week after.

Wow..so it will be in Oct. instead of Nov? We're going to be changing our dates (for weather reasons), and if dh can't get the first or second week of Dec off, then we're looking at Nov. Thanks :)

Hello all,
Being from NJ and having a wife working for a school district, I am happy to provide the following dates for future NJEA conventions. Please don't go during these dates so we will have more room to breath. We just returned from VWL Nov. 9th- 13 and found the crowds at EPCOT,AK and MK to be much larger than previous years. I have been down during FWF and Soaps weekend and never saw crowds as large. I'm hoping that Election Day and Veterans Day (Usually Holidays) added to the crowds. Anyway, still had great time and plan to go for the entire week next year with wife, DD2 and BOTH sets of grandparents to BCV!

Hope this helped
