I currently have an older Oyster? Microwave that I purchased off Craigslist for about $20 8months ago. Its just a mid-size stainless (looking) microwave and has been great for my purposes.

Now my microwave won't turn off unless you unplug it or open the door :confused3

So I'm going to invest in a new one but would really like it to be budget friendly (under $100) and last a decent amount of time a few years preferably :) So I dont have this same issue again.

Any recommendations on Brand and Place to Purchase are greatly accepted!

Again just looking for a Basic Midsize Microwave and if it is black or stainless looking it would be preferred. :thumbsup2

I had a GE that lasted for years - almost 20. When it died I bought a Kenmore. It lasted less than a year, although to be fair it stopped working when the power pole across the street exploded. The jolt of electricity fried the microwave (one neighbor lost a washing machine another neighbor lost her television so I was lucky).

Anyway, I bought another GE. It is a few years old now. I like it. It works fine.

Decide what features you want in a microwave and then go to stores. I didn't want a fancy microwave either.

My last GE lasted 11 or 12 years of heavy duty use.

I bought basically the same, but updated unit, and I've had it for about two years. No problems so far.

I bought it at Lowes. They had the best price at the time, plus I had a $5 off coupon for some reason.

bought mine last black friday...had to unplug to turn off...

did some research and ended up at Home Depot to get the Magic Chef 900 watt $58. It was on sale in store for $46. Woo Hoo. If you are a costco/sams member you might check those out $69 for 1000 or 1100 watt not sure which. They have an excellent return policy but I wanted a smaller one as it sits in my pantry.

Just bought it but had good reviews. We just reheat with our microwave.

My toaster oven was also on fritz so decided to spend more $$ there.

I will definatly look into the GE brand as you all seem to have good reviews on it :thumbsup2

Also MY BF works at Sams so I will definatly go and check there as well as lowes/home depot kind of places which I would have never thought to check at...:scratchin

Thank you

Just stay away from Samsung. Mine is 15 months old, just out of warranty and it died. From what I can find online Samsung is not good:(
